Travon was a punk. He bought into the whole gangsta life choice. I wonder if he was a Aaron Hernandez fan?
Sorry he was killed but his twitter posts say a lot about his character. If he was on me beating my head against the concrete I would have done the same thing.
My neighbor thinks any and all looters and rioters should be shot on site.

Dont want to sound harsh here, but I dont think youre sorry he was killed or like Red said that it's a sad situation. How often on this site does someone post a link to a news story of a homeowner shooting a burglar and we all cheer. Whats the difference?

You are wrong MB.
I am sorry he put himself into the position to be killed.
I am sorry that George Z put him self into the position to be on trial.
I am sorry G Z will live with this over his head his whole life.
I am sorry that Travon's parents didn't install better values in him.
I am sorry that the race baiter's got the whole country stirred up over a justifiable homicide.
I am sorry anyone would be stupid enough to break into a persons house and force a property owner to shoot them.
You damn right I cheer, our system is not in favor of the victim in many cases. My cousin worked for many years in Pakastain. Their crime rate is very, very low. Can you guess why?
I am sorry that you think you know who I am, and are very wrong in that regard.
I am not glad a young life was foolishly thrown away. I AM GLAD justice was served.
what justice? That George was undeservedly put on trial for something he never should've been put on trial for, probably losing ten years off his life due to undue stress, all while staring down a long prison sentence in the eye?Tomkat wrote:Mornin Beef wrote:Tomkat wrote:Trayvons parents screamed for justice. There are some folks, friends of friends, who won't talk about politics when I'm around, because "they don't want to argue about it". I consider that a victory. Not because I "win" all the arguments, but because I have caused them to realize that not EVERYONE shares their views, not EVERYONE thinks their views are the best, and not EVERYONE is going to sit there and listen to them without challenging them when they say dumb shit. So, if by arguing I keep one person from spouting off views which I feel are harmful, even if it's just for one night, one conversation, then that is fine with me, and the arguing was worth it.
The only thing worse than a flaming liberal is a flaming liberal who feels that they may say whatever they want, whenever they want to, and get off Scot-free. Nope. No free passes here. So far, since last night, I have been called racist, I have been told that my kids deserve to get killed "so I'd know how Trayvon's parents feel", I have been threatened with being shot in the face, I have been told that I should be attacked because someone doesn't like how I look. And you know why those comments all happened? Because the people who make them have been brought up through life in an environment where nobody challenges anything they say.
I have enough friends. I don't have to be "nice" to someone "just because". I will be polite, I will be respectful, but I will not let someone simply jam their views down my (or any within earshot's) throat. I know some people don't like to argue, and that's cool. But personally, nobody, in any situation, gets a free pass. I don't care if it's at a dinner, at church, at the gas station, anywhere. Fuck that. Life is too short, and I'm not going to be around when my children and grandchildren are grown. I'm just trying to do my little part to try and give them the best country and society that I can.
you're a racist??!assateague wrote:Some have asked why even give a shit about this. Here's my personal opinion, in regard to me.
I don't give a shit about Martin or Zimmerman, when it comes right down to it. What I care about is a country where the guy who pulls the trigger is automatically wrong. That attitude speaks to two things:
1. Hatred of guns
2. Hatred of someone taking care of himself, because "government" should take care of you.
3. The ability of the government (at whatever level) to basically suspend the rule of law for political correctness
These are horrible, horrible notions to get in one's head. In the Zimmerman deal, it was most assuredly racial, but that's not even the biggest deal. If people want to blame race, fine. If they want to dig harder into a situation where they feel race was an issue, fine. But when prosecutors speak as if they don't know the law, in order to force a prosecution, that is bullshit. For so many people out there to be completely ignorant of "fact", and choose to ignore it, preferring "emotion", there is a problem.
So do I think I'm going to change anybody's mind when I argue? Nope. Not by a damn sight. But what I AM doing is putting them on notice that they will be forced, every chance I get, to defend their position logically. That they will not get a "get out of the argument free" card from me, out of some misguided notion of social "justice". If more people argued, folks might get the idea that they are perhaps closer to being in the minority opinion than they believe. When we all shut up, and just say "whatever, it's stupid and doesn't effect me", all that does is embolden people to spout their opinion louder and more frequently.

QH's Paw wrote:Really, some people are so concerned at the fact Zimmerman may have to live the rest of his life looking over his shoulder.
I think if you had the misfortune of having killed another human being, for any reason, you would understand Zimmerman's troubles will stem from looking in the mirror, not over his shoulder. Regardless of why or the set of circumstances, he will have to live with it, right or wrong. My personal assessment of the man probably doesn't mean squat but, I do think he is that kind of man. I believe he is a good man and, that will be his trouble moving, or trying, to move forward.
