Given the discussion in this thread, I thought it would go better here, than in the "daughters" thread.
Plus, you guys with daughters would probably kill me.

No offspring of my own, just grandkids by proxy. But here are a few of them.

Gauge and Cole on the former's first hunt:

Fighting over who gets to pole (something they'll get over about the time they're big enough to do some good):

Cole's first shooting hunt:

resulted in some dog work:

sober reflection:

and celebration:

But, to this point, he's still more of a social than "dyed in the wool" hunter. Enjoys it, but would rather go home and talk with his buddies about it than stay out there for one last bird. Which is fine by me, I'll not push any of them.

(more later, this old computer is binding up)

His frist fish he caught 100% on his own from baiting the hook, lowering the line, and swinging him over the gunnel.

So far, Gauge is our most gung-ho outdoorsman, shown here working his pal, the coyote, on a "triple":
Image

(And the coyote doing his best to please his boy:)
Image

Couldn't sleep the night before even his non shooting hunts and sometimes made up for it in the blind:
Image

But was always up for hero shots:
Image

Chip and his block on Gauge's first shooting hunt:
Image

And proof of his skillet shot mastery:
Image

This year he was hitting a few ducks in the air:
Image

But found his first specks easier and even helped call them:
Image

Finally, we opened a new chapter last season with 3yr-old Ethan's first hunt:

A different approach-
I dont have any kids. But I absolutely want to make it better for future generations.

I spend a lot of time working on my local DU chapter committee. Last year we raised over $65,000 dollars for the ducks

Love this thread. Never had my dad take me hunting, a little fishing in the recent years. Can't wait to bring a kid up in the outdoors.

Baysider- that one with little man fighting that fish is effn classic. Feet propped up on the side of the boat, rod tip high, strong grip...looks like a dang pro!!

Bout ready to pass the seed along myself. Getting kinda boring going out with asshole friends. I can't think of anything that sounds more fun than having a boy like Sam, Jr or any other of these pros to drag me around. Fine job fellas, fine job.

I'd forgotten about this story until I was looking through some videos on my YouTube account today.

So the kid in this video, Noah, was along on his second or third ever goose hunt and had yet to get a shot on a bird. My buddy John (who is shooting the video) called me the night before this hunt and asked if it would be cool if he brought the newbie along. Of course we were all happy to have the kid along and were dedicated to making sure he got out and got his first birds.

Noah's father had passed away at age 41 about 2 weeks before this hunt, after
