No real favorites but I get tired of all the gadwalls and woodies. Without a doubt the top 2 of duck species I kill.

I think of them as just mashing the peddle harder when they see the guns come up, but they tend to follow bigger waters around my current little pothole, and we didn't shoot but 84 last year, which was a lot for us, in a marsh where they're usually number two in most blinds' bag. Was a hoot my first year there, though, as Hurricane Rita and her salt surge had built a regular highway of the normally narrow boat trail my pothole is a wide spot in, and the jacks all seemed to fly it right past the blind. Made me think of a video game for hunters.

Also have a specklebelly loving Cajun friend who isn't apt to shoot a duck for his table unless it's a "butter ball," aka: ringneck or "blackjack". Neat little birds that don't generally get the respect they deserve.

Nnice to see Red throw in a vote for Gadwalls...i agree.

My favorite duck to eat is a Ringneck and is definitely the best to look at when all cooked.

But to pick a favorite to shoot...I can't. Love the way they all splash/thud after they are shot.

1) Mallards - Don't care what you say, stacks of green heads are what got us all into the sport, gotta give credit when it's due.

2) Pintails - Sheer gracefulness, all around fun birds to watch work.

3) Canvasbacks - Still trying to get a bull for the wall, no list is complete without the king.

4) Woodies - If for nothing else for hearing them break the silence in the morning.

5) GWT or Bluebills - Haven't killed a ton of the latter, but it's something else hearing these little rockets cruising before you see them.

Stacks of woodies and ringers are what got me into it, not feeding park ducks

I will shoot anything that I feel like at the moment. No need to have to justify it.

1. Teal for speed and agility, they test me
2. Pintail , beautiful tight formation flying, landing
3. Mallards, for nice big splats on hitting the water or mud flat
4. Wigeon
5. Canvasback

I've never seen a Ruddy with all of it's colors in person. I've seen one with a bright blue bill and some red on the chest, but that's it.

Easiest birds I've ever sculled. I've been within 10-15 feet of em and they just ignore me

No mature drakes in this group. And the only time I've ever shot any while sculling. No other birds around this day. The scoter was the traveller that year. Was just along for the ride

Yeah but the one I seen wasn't full plumage. full plumage is rust all over, this one had a bit of rust on the chest, the rest was brown. Most don't get into full breeding plumage until after the season ends.

There was one day I was hunting with my dad, and some guy in a boat like a mile down the slough spooked up a bunch of them. They were coming buy in groups of about five, and I shot 2 from the first group, the one from each group after until I limited out.

There is no way to word the words "beaver", "hole", and "woody" can be used in a sentence without being dirty.

That means that it is time to go home. And dead ducks aren't as much fun to watch.
