Doesn't mean he was a computer visionary. Just means he was a mass con artist.

Nope, he's dead.

All that money and jumping ahead of kids on the kidney transplant list twice didn't make his life last any longer.

Liver... Kidneys. The point is he's dead and no matter how blindly you believe it, he was not a special snow flake and never contributed anything important to the computer world.

I see Assas side of this too. Jobs isn't famous for inventing computers, just for improving them. Doesn't make him a flimflam™, where would we be if nobody ever improved a design? Not saying I'm a Macolyte, but the man did do some pretty impressive stuff, even if it was all marketing.

Jobs never improved anything about computers. His only talent was marketing and buying other people's ideas. Apples best product the ipod wasn't even developed in house. It was bought from an independent inventor.

I never said Steve Jobs wasn't good at his job. I just said he wasn't the computer/tech guy you all have been tricked into believing he was.

Steve Jobs is famous not for inventing the computer, but for inventing an easily-used computer, making the technology accessible to a majority of the people. It's exactly the same thing.

I've never heard anyone say "holy shit, Steve Jobs invented the computer".

I would argue that the Mac was far more successful (and popular) than the iPod. Not trying to be the "old guy" here, but you weren't even around in the 80's when this crap was going on. I had a computer course in college, which involved c prompts and 5" floppy discs. It was insanely stupid, user-unfriendly, and not good for much. My girlfriend at the time had a Mac. My question was always "why the fuck can't all computers be like this?" And I assure you, I wasn't the only one to think this, and spend accordingly.

Assa, you're wrong man. He didn't invent a easy to use computer he didn't invite anything.... The operating system that apple uses is based on the program that Dennis Ritchie wrote, and the GUI was just a copy cat of X.

STEVE JOBS NEVER INVENTED ANYTHING. PERIOD.

So did IBM, Xerox, Microsoft.

The only thing Apple did better then all of those was marketing. AND you really can't even say that because even to this day Windows is used by more Desktops then any other system and Android is used on more smart phones.

Olly, why don't you hate Bill Gates just as much, since he ripped off the GUI as well? And his success was due to shady practices, resulting in a huge anti-trust suit? Last I heard, others were ripping off Apple, not the other way around.

Never said I was a fan of bill Gates did I? You just assumed that all on your own. And you might want to check how many lawsuits apple has against them past and present for copyright violations and of you want to get into business practices I'd take a look at where and whom actually puts together your precious Apple laptop. I'd bet my next paycheck they aren't white and aren't old enough to drive a car.

Steve Jobs never invented anything.

Apple makes a fortune off the stupidity of people desperate to fit in.

Their products aren't technically superior to any other major brands. (component wise)

No, you didn't say that. But nor does anyone else. Why not? Why do so many hop on the cause du jour, which at the moment seems to be "hate Apple"? And back to my point- when the choice was some sort of nonsensical prompt driven PC with a 5" floppy, why was Apple the only one to come out with a very easy to use computer? If they didn't do anything differently, why were there not 15 different options in 1986?

I don't have an Apple laptop. And I'd bet the same 12 year old Chinese girl who built my phone also built your phone, as well. And my shoes, my underwear, my steak knives, my kitchen sink, and a large chunk of my televisions. What's the point?
