The problem with mix and match old and new-

BP was used with lead bullets or round balls (not rubber balls, nor liquor)

So we all know BP is very corroasive compared with modern smokeless powder.

Mix that with copper fouling, and you have a hidden agent eating away undetected underneath the copper build up in your bore.

My 2 cents on it.
