you know what i'm saying?

i went through the no work situation every winter doing concrete. in the end, it comes down to having some money socked away and looking for temp work that will keep you afloat.

Thanks for the offer but I'm not broke by any means. I'm better off than most Coasties I know. I've been talking of selling it for months and this is just a kick in the butt I needed to finally list it.

Unemployment money comes from the government.

How the fuck is the government saving any money during a shutdown if workers are being payed anyways?

Can someone explain this to me please.

its not about saving the govt money. its about defunding portions of or all of obamacare. this effort to defund obamacare is the cause and reason of the shitdown.

Not true. The last offer on the table was to FULLY fund obamacare, by eliminating ALL exemptions and putting congress under obamacare as well. But the senate wouldn't even vote on that proposal. So, you get what we have here today. Which is the way he wants it.

I love the shut down.

Our office shares a parking lot with the USDA, fucking tumbleweeds rolling through there now. Don't have to wait to use the shitter. No traffic leaving the office on a Friday.

I say if they won't eliminate all exemptions then they should create exemptions for anyone registered as republicans, libertarians, independents, etc who don't want this pile of shit. If the democrats want this fucking bill so bad, they should be the ones that have to pay for it.

Ofcourse momma and me are in demand, no layoffs. Essential personal is what you call us.

Before u go getting all shitty, we do an honest days work to earn our money. No one forced us to go to college or law school. Being white, there were very few (zero) grants for us. So we are still paying those student loans back.

You earned a few government check Jim, no? Were your pay and bennies better than private sector jobs while you were in Korea?

Yes. Any job I've ever had that was paid for by the govt has paid far, far better than a private sector money job.

And make no mistake, I'm not saying it doesn't suck. I'm saying it doesn't suck any worse than when the exact same thing happens to a private sector worker. It's time folks stopped acting like it somehow is worse. Nonsense.

i can tell you that working for the state does not pay better than private sector

but the benefits are good, should be since they took over a quarter of every paycheck.

False. As a munitions tech in the AF i was making roughly half of the private sector equivalent.

It obviously depends on what kinda private sector or gov't job were talking about here but as Jim pointed out, when you include benefits, gov't jobs usually win out

So I guess that makes damn near everything a government job. They do print the money.

Let's not get silly. You know precisely what I'm talking about. If the government is paying your employer to pay you, it's a government job, and you know it. The only difference is the additional middleman.

I work in a career field very similar to his and there is none that transfers over. What we would get out of the military is the management training or the ability to tell people how to accomplish complex things in a short period of time. To build on that, I went and got an accounting degree in my free time. I am trying my hardest to set myself up for success when my retirement date from the Air Force comes in ten years.

ok i get that ,and sound,s as if u have a plan. my point was and is [private sector equivalent] if u get more training in a new skill set well, not really the same deal if u look at it. i also understand skills of leadership and so forth .as a MGS i helped ,i hope to instill a work ethic as you have hope thing,s go well for you sound,s as if you are putting in the ground work .hat,s off to you

Thank you. I guess I was vague in my explanation. Yes we would have to learn a new skill set if/when we transfer to the civilian sector. But with that transfer we would bring a hard work ethic and management experience.
