This thread made me thankful that I'll be hunting a state WMA here in Mobile and not Federal land.

Lots of angry people here. Some guys spend $300-$400 on non refundable reservation applications for the Fed lands. Sad!

it really is sad. Refuges ain't my thing, but I know for a lot of valley folks it's all they have, if they don't have the means for a lease or club

Its a three day shoot week. Saturday Sunday Wednesday. You apply for the days of the season wish to draw for. Or like me put in for every shoot day for the season.Most areas also have a lotto the evening before to fill in the spots that aren't filled by the reservation guys.

I already paid my $20 annual hunting fee at Assateague Island, and I don't care if it's a National Park or not. You took my money, bitches, and now I'm going to hunt. Although if this thing lasts until the middle of November, I expect there will be bigger problems than them worrying about me and my little boat hidden back in a gut somewhere.

If it is still closed go regardless of getting the draw or not. They're shutdown, technically they loose jurisdiction and can't do shit. You'd win in court, it's unconstitutional to not let you.

We have one of those back home. The place has fucked up our hunting so bad. It holds ducks year round and they feed them so they never leave. Place has some monster bucks too but they're almost solely for your viewing pleasure only. I hate those fuckers, wasting tax money so people can come out and look at wildlife.

Our refuges actually have the hunter in mind. About half of them have public viewing areas for bird watchers in the closed zone areas but it works out fine.This stupid shutdown is screwing things up a bit.

I can't report my band. and my dad got drawn for deer hunting on nov 1-5 in a fed refuge, so thats not gonna happen unless they get shit figured out.

Same thing is happening on the lower Columbia river, from what I hear. A very big portion of the Columbia down there falls in the boundary of the Lewis and Clark fed refuge. It is always completely unmanned and only gets limited federal patrolling, except now. What a crock of shit.
