she would say the U.S. and cooperating asian govts have been increasing the abuse over a short period of time.

no, i do believe if she went to africa and handed out malaria nets the people would turn on her. i just dont know exactly how to tell her those people are heathens in the right circumstance. you must have heard of the epidemic of gang rape in india lately, and i cant imagine being anywhere near a tribal civil war breaking out in africa.

It just comes down to geography and pedology. The course of human history, the rise and fall of empires, the haves and have-nots, has always been determined by soil type. Think American spirit and ingenuity made everything you see in this country possible? Wrong, everyone has that spirit and ingenuity, they are limited by whats in their soil. It determines attainable standard of living and what type of government is likely to form in a region.

Have you hugged an Mollisol today?

Jehler killed it, those people know more abut living than we could ever dream.

ive read jared diamonds bolognese and now ive read your squirrelly soil idea now too. hunter gatherers roamed all over awesome soil for thousands of years in north ameericas bread basket and it did not inspire the ingenuity at a level of other populations. certain groups of people are just more genetically adapt at creating a cumulative tradition. Thats a genetic disposition and just as important as the land your sitting on. not every population has gone through the same genetic bottlenecks.

she said she witnessed deplorable conditions and witnessed no such happiness. she was very mad about american companies utilizing their poor folk for gain. she was telling me all these ways to ensure the products she buys are not produced from these ways. she wishes to try and offset these abuses with acts with everything she can do.

Would their poor folk be better off without the jobs that are created for American gain? Maybe Obama can get them set up with EBT cards after they don't have jobs at all.

That's legit.

Perhaps went a little overboard when I said "everyone has that ingenuity". People who can't figure it out, are just that. Soil just set the boundaries.

I think I watched the first episode of the Natgeo thing they did on Jared Diamonds bologsese, is it worth reading?

I read it a long time ago. I just remember it essentially being a nice theory every homo sapien population was created equel and the spot on the earth that they resided dictated their success. Kind of a nice let's everyone hold hands and realize its all luck if you have more than the next person. Diamond is a prof in california if I remember correctly. The title had the words guns and steel in it so I thought cool must be a decent read, wrong, hippie garbage.

It is truly amazing how wealthy we citizens of the USA are. Where else can someone worry about the plight of third world people and ignore the problems we have in our inner cities? What is the mindset of someone like that? Is it perhaps that our low expedition citizens brought the situation upon themselves so screw them but those people who do not have our social welfare system need our help?

Isn't it fortunate that we seem to be able worry about others and not have to worry as they do about feeding ourselves?

Beef - You must think this lady is worth something (looks, intelligence, sex, money or a combination of things) to go through this agonizing decision process of what to do and how to handle it. Ask her if she voted for or supported Obama and if she did, drop her like a hot potato.
