So let me ask you this. Your kid wants to play football. You put out the $100 or whatever it is. The kid bust ass for a couple months in practice then gets no play time for all 10 games of the season or however many there is. Is that alright with you?

Yes. The kids that give the team the best chance to win should play. We're taking football, not girl scout cookie sales.

Why the hell would you pay to play football? At my highschool it's free. I know you were aaskinng dedeyedan, but if I had a kid and he kid didn't play i would be fine with that, because he wasn't working hard enough, or just wasn't good enough. If he quit because he didn't play, I would be pissed. Would you quit duck hunting if you couldn't hit shit?

depends what age the kid is.

9 or 10? The kid should get to play. Their developing fundamentals at that age

High school age? It's time to man up. Life isn't fair. If you haven't learned how to be a supportive teammate and push and challenge the first string, you've failed. If you end the season bitter cause you didnt play enough, you've failed.

You'll grow up a shitty, selfish teammate in whatever career you chose. Nothing will ever be your fault.

$180 registration fee for rocket football
$350 for helmet/pads/cleats

He wanted to quit after the first week of practice, told him "too bad. You can't quit on your team. If you don't want to play next year, remember this"
By the end of the 9-1 season, he was starting nose tackle, and the team won the league championship, and earned a trophy.

Fault, that's the key word. I see it everytime. A team loses a game and everybody starts pointing fingers. That's why I shoot trap competitively. If something goes wrong, I have no one else to blame but myself.

Sorry, thought that you meant you would hunt more, but you said it wasn't realistic that you could make a career out of it. I thought you were implying that if you played football instead of hunting, you could make a career out of that.

If you add up all the deer I've killed, I've probably saved more than a college education in grocery bills.

DnB...I get where you're coming from. In high school I missed a ton a hunting opportunities with my dad, grandpa and uncle because of basketball. Looking back I regret missing those hunting trips. However I wouldn't have changed a thing because I was very passionate about basketball and still am. I also needed the competition

You don't sound passionate about football. You sound like you enjoy it...like its a fun thing to do with your buddies. But only you know the truth here.

Me personally, if I weren't passionate about basketball I would have regretted playing and missing all those hunting trips

well done Red.
i have had my kid in combative sports her entire life. she is good enough to make it to the olymipics in 2016 for judo. last fall she stopped everything. no judo no sambo and no taekwondo.many tens of thousands of dollars into it all over the years. i was and still am pissed.
but she learned hard work and sportsmanship, im happy for that.

I see what your saying. I don't like having to miss hunting during football season because my dad really doesn't hunt often without me. He won't hunt by himself anymore, and usually I am his only hunting partner, because most of his freinds are in his same line of work, and they don't get a lot of days off, because my dad hogs up most of the winter vacation time.

Next time you kill a duck and get it back to the blind, cut the head and neck off close to the body....Cut the feet and legs off close to the body.......What do you have? A fucking football.

Next question..........
