We've had a colder than normal winter this year. At the beginning I was freezing my ass off. Now in the same temps it doesn't even bother me. I've gotten used to it.

You definitely acclimate, emptied my carcass bucket and put my trash cans out this morning wearing my flip flops and sleep pants, and a t shirt, was 6* with snow on the ground.

Ok. Sping and fall solstice is not the days you want.
First day of summer is the longest day. First day of winter is shortest. (Northern hemisphere).
You guys DO hunt ducks ... right?

no. Winter is caused by the amount of radiation actually penetrating our atmosphere. in winter the angle is tipped to where the radiation has to pass through more atmosphere, and is dispersed over a larger area, therefore it is less direct, shortening days and being partially responsible for cooler temps. another factor is the way Hadley cells shift throughout the year, causing the North to get different airflow in winter and summer.

Not sure what you are trying to prove but I'll bite and say NO just so you can continue with your proof.

Where I live...the sun goes south for the winter and you can literally see it changing where it rises and sets every day.
The sun sets at southwest in winter and slightly NORTHwest in the summer.

Vernal equinox around here is called "the day the sun sets between the railroad tracks".

The sun is a star, so technically that would be the brightest. but if you want the standard concept of a star then I think it's Sirius (spelling?), the north star.

Try again. Arcturus is the brightest star in the northern hemisphere.
You see, my father was an Astronomy professor among other things.

Yes, the day is December 21st, and every day after that, the sun becomes more intense. Cold weather patterns persist, but solar radiation increases.

I have definitely climatized over the past 6 years, I'm very comfortable in cold weather these days. I don't even need to wear gloves or a knit hat until about -10, my hands don't really get cold.

I have no doubt you're full of brown, but I don't think its fat.

nope, this is straight talk, when we have a home build in the winter by a month into it I can wear a flannel and leggings with no gloves and be comfortable down to 4 degrees or so. my hands rarely got cold. this has been changing as I get older im afraid though

Isn't the sun furthest from the northern hemisphere during winter? Isn't that what causes winter?

nope sun is closest in winter and farthest in summer. its all about the angle in which the sun hits earth. more direct in summer more obtuse in winter.

gravitational force coupled with the spin of earth drives the tide.
