Wish the work was done. Got to clean them all and think of how I am going to eat the first one.

Not one got by us until the very last flock for the limit. Good feeling after getting skunked yesterday.

That's how it should be done, you got to leave at least one to tell the story. I have an ace up my sleeve for later in the season, I'm really hoping it works out, haven't been into te geese in a long time

On a serious note, I'm going to set up a small plond and the UniCorn blind in the back pasture tomorrow afternoon, since the kids are home from school and the wife has to work. Hopefully, I can catch those birds who fly over just after sunset.

I'll be sure to post the pics as I go. I want to start today, but I've got grass to cut first, and I'm afraid the plond will blow away if a storm like we had last night comes through again. I'm planning a small plond, maybe only about 10x20, and haven't figured out just how to do it yet.

What color are you going with ? Black or clear ? I would find at least a shallow depression and after you lay it out throw some grass back on the plond. also a 5 gallon bucket of water that way if the sun is out the reflection will look more natural.

on overcast cloudy days the transparent works well. Of course it's not clear it's kinda cloudy looking

I've always used black. It's plenty reflective. Look at Google earth- they all look black. I think it's racist.

see I look at all the low flood spots in our fields and to me they look gray. Maybe cause I'm looking at it from eye level, I don't know

Glad to see some fellas shooting some birds, job well done. Would of given anything to have some water around this weekend, temps had Taz shutting down late morning, was 97 when we finished and started cleaning birds today. Season off to a good start, 30 dove in 2 days, great work with Taz on being steady, very happy with the way he marked this weekend. Group ended with 150 birds, hoping for some cooler weather soon, teal opens next weekend.
TAZ 2014-15 birds

Ducks: 57
Geese: 59

Been spotty hear. Skunked first day, limited in an hour this morning, and now not a bird in sight tonight. Gonna catch up on sleep tomorrow and get some work done around the house before I start binge hunting.

Had the pup under the gun for the first time ever today. First dove was on a rope right at us. Gave him one last sit command before I popped up to let him have it. Bird folded on the first shell and landed not 15 from where we were sat. Pup was locked in on what just took place and even more intently on the bird on the ground but never even flinched. Released him and shortly thereafter he was back at heel with his prize. Went on to pick 15 more of the 23 birds we shot as not to overheat him. Did a fine job and looked as though he had hunted many times before never giving up and not loosing a bird. Especially loved pile driving the cripples and toting them back to heel. Even the cripple that fell not 15 feet from us that came down flopping then popped up running around was no match for his willpower to steady. Topped off the evening by finding a downed bird for the neighbors in 8 inch dove that was a cold blind for him.If I even need to say it now I am ecstatic about the corner we just turned and how he powered right through it like a champ.
