I wouldn't go Texas rig that deep. If you don't leave decoys in a blind for rats to munch on all season, get some Tanglefree pvc type line. It doesn't kink, and doesn't break.

I use all mushroom weights and only a single loop, not a twisted one, and a smaller than 1/4 inch hole so that the crimps don't get stuck in the hole. Here is the link on Texas Rigging Decoys. Forget about snaps and swivels, they are a PITA.

Storage and transportation is easy. When throwing decoys, just unclip and let the bundle rest in the water.......Pick up the decoy by the head and no tangles. You can throw two or three decoys at a time.

I put the weight/bungee above the loop. It slides, but if one side of the crimp fails, you're got a back up, and hopefully don't lose the weight or decoy...

If anyone else stores their Texas rigs like that, I'm all ears. I'm always looking for ways to simplify, but I just don't see how it'd make anything easier when I just throw them in the boat..??

I do and wont go back to wrapping lines again. I clip 1 dozen decoys (by the top loop) on a carabiner, the tie a big loose overland knot in the line to keep it together. Just drop them in the boat or in an otter sled. Havent used a decoy bag for ducks in a few years now.

I don't bag either, but I just can't see that it'd be easier for me.
I've got my decoys all strung out all over the garage in various stages of maintenance, but when they make it back to the boat, I'll take a pic.

I've seen a few guys build in a "decoy box" like you describe, i know what you mean. Its really no different than throwing them in a sled. I think you might like the texas rig.
I can set up 4 dozen decoys in probably 2 minutes by myself, and i bet it cuts the pick-up time half at least. The big bonus is you wont get a line over the decoys back to walk out to and fix.
