I can't find one like it anymore though. Everything either isn't warm enough, or shirpa lined (sp? pilled wool stuff), or costs $80+. I know I didn't spend anywhere near that on mine.

Seriously? Wal-Mart.
To me, the whole point of wearing an insulated flannel shirt is because it is dirt cheap, easy on/off, and it's warm enough in the cold while doing yard work.
Never saw the point in spending $50 on something you are going to work in and ruin.

There is a big difference in quality and warmth with some of the thicker and more expensive flannels and chamois out there. I used to rock flannels from wal-mart and places like that. The ones from Wal-mart feel like a thin cotton shirt compared to the ones from Cabela's.

But if you are working in them, they are damn near the perfect warmth. You don't want something you are going to sweat in. If you plan on spending more than $50 on something you plan to ruin, than you have more money than me to throw away.

I think our difference of opinion comes from where we live haha. I think it gets a lot colder here than in NY.

I guess I look at it like if you're gonna buy something to do a tough job like work in then spend the little extra and get something that will hold up. My $50 shirts are TOUGH I wear one every day once the temps drop below 50 and for the next 6 months. I do all kinds of work in them and am sure I would have gone though more ones from walmart than the thicker tougher ones. I really only have 3 of them anyway.

I'm cheap. Majority of my work clothes are Carhartt because I get them cheap(buddy is a dealer) I usually go through 3 or 4 pairs of insulated pants in the winter and quite a few pairs of shorts in the summer. About a month into my clothes lifetime, I start looking like a hobo. Then again I am pretty careless when it comes to taking care of my stuff.

I'm gonna guess you do more "real" work than me anyways so your clothes probably take more of a beating. If I went through clothes like that I might go cheap to.

Contractor. Typically the worst thing I do to ruin clothes is painting and roofing as far as the job goes. Most of my real work is at home cutting wood, welding, and building stuff halfway and putting it off until a "later date"![]()
What do you do on active duty? I have always been maintenance so uniforms come every 2 years for me.

I tell ya, keep an eye on those Cabela's shirts sometimes they go on sale for around $25 bucks and I'm a telephone/network technician it's a mix of inside and outside work. I've gone through my share of uniforms I usually replace them once a year.
