I think it will be fun no matter how the hunting is. The 3 of us will sit in a tule patch or a metal tank in a rice field all day to shoot one duck!

The emperor has jumped flyways and has touched down in Northeast Nebraska. He didn't make it in time for this mornings hunt, he didn't miss much killing but one hell of a show. 1000's of birds working, just unable to get where they wanted to be, formulating plans to get the emperor some hot cupping action as we speak.

Wait, did it not get there until today? I paid for it to be there yesterday.

Ya, it showed up this morning. I kinda wondered if they told you it would be here by Thursday or not, because about half the time it takes an extra day to get here out in the boondocks. I'm not upset, I still have two more days to hunt it (three if I find someone to hunt Monday), but if they told you it would be here Thursday I would probably go in and get some money back. You're fine by me though.

Apparently my California slang referring to a metal pit blind in a rice field has given you people some joy... for that I say your welcome and good day. :D

Yes sir. I knew you wanted it for thursday so I paid for 2nd day air. Arrival time was for before 430 thursday. No wonder they are going under.

Alright guys, here goes!

The rambler arrived after our Friday morning hunt, so we decided to take him on a little sightseeing/scouting trip! First, he went to visit the Niobrara State Park west of Niobrara NE

Image

Next he took a trip across the border into Running Water SD to overlook the Missouri River and Standing Bear Bridge.

The emperor had enough sightseeing, he was ready to do some hunting. 5 am rolled around, and the emperor was anxiously awaiting our trip.

Had a great weekend with the emperor, got to see a lot of birds working but couldn't get where they wanted to be. We've been in a severe drought this summer, so all the lakes are really low (if not dry) and this one was choked with weeds, so we couldn't run our flat bottom to where we wanted to be. We still scratched out a few birds, anything that got close enough to see the emperor wanted a piece of him. Ended up with a nice species weekend, one mallard, one pintail, one redhead, one BWT, two GWT, two wood ducks and two wigeon. Emperor on its way to MN tomorrow!

I'm jealous, I didn't have nearly as good of a hunt with the emperor as you did! Glad he brought you some luck though!

I was gonna PM Jehler about that I might not be able to, a big wig is coming to visit and they might not approve my leave. Not gonna be happy if that happens.

It's not me I put in my request for the days off this morning. They want all hands on board for this big wig.
