I get the part of getting up and out of sight. I was just wondering if you guys did it because of limited areas to hunt. Like hunting small pieces of property and waiting for deer to wander from one piece of land to the next. Tree stands look boring, I could never sit in one spot for that long.

Hunting out west is a different ball game. Over there, from what I know, you can basically still hunt. Too thick over here and treestands are where its at..or box blinds.

No such thing as deer. All those trail camera pictures were photo shopped. It's all a giant hoax.

Typically public land isn't all that large of areas, and is polka dotted with orange during rifle season Private land usually isn't much more than square miles at most around where I hunt. You pattern the deer and let them come to you instead of going to the deer around here. Plus like Erik said, you can't see much to try and stalk them. They'll hear you before either of you sees the other and bug out before you can get a shot on them.

My tree stand is a climber that the chair is darn near lazyboy like. I've searched for many deer behind my eye lids while up in it.

A couple pictures of my blind. I'm on the edge of a field looking into a thick swamp. Too hard to stalk this property but there are a few places with hills and hardwoods you can stalk successfully.

That's why I duck hunt. If I get bored I can just run the call a bit, mess with the decoys, play with the dog, etc.

Nice looking blind JGUN. One of the things I really like about deer hunting here, is hiking around and finding new areas. I have a few fields and clear cuts that I will sit on sometimes in the morning or evening, but I really enjoy getting out and exploring. Almost no cel coverage where I hunt, so I always try to throw in a small book in case I end up sitting somewhere for a while. Louis L'amour books are great, small enough to fit in a back pocket in a pinch.

You would go deerless for quite some time exploring like that. The only time you will stumble on a deer is you have your dick in your hands, pants at your ankles, or your gun isn't in your hands. Its the law.

Seems like it might be hard to hike around like that, but maybe I will give it a try next season if you say it works.

Definitely different than here. Sneaking around the mountains here I have been with in 10 feet of 2 different bears, about 10 yards on a coyote, and had deer so close that I could have killed them with a rock. Lots of old growth pine trees, not much undergrowth when you get in it. Most of the deer my friends and I have shot have been less than 100 yards, quite a few even less than 50 yards. We can put a lot of miles under our belts some years. It never gets boring.

Back on the deer blind again. Hopefully I kill something this morning to make me feel better about not going duck hunting with Brewgun.

Good luck.
My stove ran out of propane just a minute ago. Good thing it's 75 degrees in here right now. I may actually have to put my coat on if it cools off.

Don't hate me too much. I just went and looked. Found a bunch of white hair and a few drops of blood. I backed out to let him lay for awhile before I look anymore. Makes me sick thinking I may have just wounded him. It's torture sitting here waiting.

Thoroughly disgusted with myself right now. Didn't find him. Looks like I just grazed his belly. LOTS of white hair where I shot him and we followed pin drops of blood for about two hundred yards through the swamp then nothing. We then took every deer trail possible from that point on and still nothing. :-( Hopefully he swings back past someone in our family.

Before we decide if we will call you names or not, tell us how far the shot was.

Olly, is your tree stand even in the woods? How is it possible to go this long without seeing a deer?
