You guys are making me want some again. Every few years I'll have some. It's better if I don't make it though.

We have a New Years Day party every year to pay back some social obligations and to meet with our friends and make new friends. We serve eggnog but not the kind bought in the supermarket, we make our own, usually three batches. It's not eggnog if you don't have to use a spoon to get some of it out of the cup. Usually start making it the night before but it can be made the same day. We start early because we have to get ready for 50-60 people between 2 and 6.

In a large bowl, beat until light in color the yolks of a dozen large eggs
Gradually beat in:
1 box (1 pound) of powdered sugar
Add very slowly, beating constantly:
2cups of chosen liquor (Dark Rum, Bourbon, Rye, Brandy or a combination) (we use dark Run at this point)
Let stand, covered, one hour to dispel the eggy taste.
Add, beating constantly:
2-4 cups more of the chosen liquor (we use 2c rum, 1c bourbon and 1c brandy) and 2 quarts of heavy cream (whipping cream)
Refrigerate, covered for 3 hours .
In another large bowl beat until the peaks are stiff but not dry the egg whites of a dozen eggs. (left from the yolks above)
Stir or fold the egg whites into the other mixture and serve in cups sprinkled with nut meg or cinnamon or both.

This eggnog will knock your dick in the dirt. It is rich and pleasing to the nose and the pallet.

Let us know if you fix it and what you think about it. This is not the cheap shit, we usually buy two handles of Rum, and one each of Bourbon and Brandy (for three batches). Nobody has ever complained that it wasn't tasty.

Nog means anything mixed with rum. The stuff you buy in the store isn't true egg nog because it doesn't have rum in it. It's just a mix of cream, milk, egg and spices. The best egg nog is homemade. In Puerto Rico, it's called ron pitoro. It's very fuggin good. It ain't no woman's drink.

To the guy that said the rum in Switzerland is good, I'd have to say I'm doubtful. The best rum is from the Caribbean, specifically Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic or probably Cuba. Don Q Gold from PR is great. Pick it up if you can find it.

I never saw who said Switzerland has the best rum, but I agree 100%. While I was over there I drank lots, and it is much better than any Caribbean rum I've ever had.

The only things Puerto Rico makes well are lowered Hondas and roasted pig.

(I don't like rum, so this is my contribution)

But a close second to the hot azz is the roasted pig. That is some good chit there for all y'all that never had it. The crunchy skin is the best part. Wash it down with some rum, tap some azz and, you're in heaven. Trust me from experience.

Ron, the egg nog you make is just how my family made it when I was young, never met anybody else that whipped the whites into a foam like we did before, makes for quite a thick drink. Gramps always let me have a cup, told me it would put hair in my chest...
