We don't have that problem down here in South Texas. Every day the children say the pledge of allegiance, The Texas pledge, then have a moment of silence. They were in a Christmas play and its not frowned upon to say Merry Christmas.

In GA I don't think we said the pledge past 5th grade. I think it should be until you leave the public school system as an adult.

Ok, apparently they're trying to stroke me out. This was the work she came home with today. I will add a qualifier- I was an interrogator in the Army, and part of that is being a linguist, so you can conduct interrogations in the source's native language. My language was Korean. So imagine my surprise when I saw this in my first graders backpack. CAN WE PLEASE TEACH THEM HOW TO ADD, SUBTRACT, AND SPELL FIRST, PLEASE. And of you're going to bother wasting time with this multicultural awareness crap, at least get it right. There are some translations/pronunciations which aren't even close to being correct. So they doubly wasted my daughters time, by teaching her something unnecessary, and teaching it incorrectly. Thanks. Thanks a lot.
