Pancakes are about the least i put it on. Use it for cooking more than anything, that and just straight.

Under Jehlers expert guidance I made a gallon of Ohio Maple syrup and a quarter pound of maple candy. The syrup was gone in 6 weeks. The candy was so sweet it made your teeth hurt.

Yea I did. I was gonna put it in molds but when the stuff starts to set up you better be ready,I wasn't and ended up with nuggets. Looked more like turtles without the nuts. Used up to much syrup too. Next year I'm going to make at least 2 gallons. My kids and grand kids swooped on the stuff like possums on a road kill. Pancakes and sausage for 12 uses a lot of syrup. By the way its the only sweet that's diabetic friendly. Also a google search shows Ohio and Vermont as the top two syrup states. (Gotta love those Amish).

If Jehler used propane, than you will probably pretty easily tell the difference. Stuff I sent to jarbo was boiled over cherry and maple. Propane usually has that cleaner, commercial taste.

Yeah, we boil ours over a wood fire and it is hard to prevent the smoky taste.
I will admit the propane makes a better flavor.

I grew up with a kid who's family owned a commercial syrup farm, I am pretty sure they used propane.

Seriously...what's the deal with the syrup?

I don't use it 99% of the time for anything. If I have to put some on pancakes because there isn't butter and bacon to top the pancakes with, I would choose to use the dark Karo syrup. I don't like the cheap stuff from the store.

Do I not like syrup because I've just had "bad" syrup all of my life, or do you guys just like to get all antsy in your pantsy?

Where would one purchase the "good" stuff? What brand/maker/farm should I look for?

I am sorry Feeling Fowl, but this post explains why people beat you up all the time in high school.

You will always have to drink karo out of the bottle. This is part of Gods plan, just like ticks, snakes, and turkey buzzards.

Jesus loves you and so do I.

I guess it is all on what you were raised on. If you have never had the real stuff, its hard to say you don't like it based of eating corn syrup.
