A level-headed, sane man with life experience. Maybe "judge" is the wrong word, but "offer your opinion" is certainly fine by me.


I say we all start a WFF compound. We would probably rule a sizable chunk of the world within 12 years. At the very least, we would all sit back in folding lawn chairs with looks of smug satisfaction, with well-raised kids, sipping beers while watching the rest of the world collapse around us. I'm only half kidding anymore.

Today is a sad, sad day for me. I have long held the title of "the biggest asshole I know" and have warned several folks on many occasions that "I've never lost an asshole contest - so don't start with me".

Recap: agree to general terms with bro in law on the purchase of a piece of property. Within 24 hours, bil crawfishes the deal, and says he wants to get an appraisal, and would let me know when he had it. No other discussion has occurred on the matter and I assumed he was getting an appraisal.

UPDATE: Get a phone call from the bil tonight and he makes chit chat, and I know he has bad news.
He finally comes out and says "we got a call from a realtor and he wanted to know if he could show it to someone, so I told him yes"

HO-LEE-SHIIIIIT !! It took every fiber of my being not to call him a no-good, four flushing, cocksucking, dirt-bag, worthless, piece of worm shit eating faggot.

Instead I said "I thought you were getting an appraisal?? Never mind. I actually have zero interest in buying that place, ever"

Which is true. I knew a month ago that if we went forward I would end up regretting it, but damn if that's not an asshole move, I don't know what is.

The only way partnerships in Real Estate work is if the purchase is for the sole purpose of re-selling the property because you think you can make a profit. (yes, there are exceptions but they are few and far between)

Look around, you will find something that you can afford on your own and not have to put up with wishy-washy partners.
Another bad thing about having a partner in a real estate venture is that weather you want another partner or not, your partners wife will have more say in the deal than you can imagine.

To which my Mother in Law replied "well, I guess I'll call the lawyer in the morning and pull XX acres out of the LLc and give it to you then"...that's the LLc that she and my father in law set up to pass the farm land to the bil

Maybe my mother in law gets to wear the asshole crown for awhile.

My only issue is that 90% of them around here aren't issued to real farms, and they really have to stretch to get the status.
