You say that, but he was the only coach I had who I saw get in a fight because an opposing coach grabbed and yelled at one of our players. And to be clear, he was not saying to just shut up and take it. His point was that it is usually the guy who hits back that gets seen by the ref and flagged. So, what he advocated, was instead waiting a couple of plays, then when the guy and the ref was not expecting it, to "put your earhole on 'em", as he would say. He was a funny guy. Had coached the same pee-wee team for over twenty years. Dropped out of high-school when his dad died since he was the oldest son and got a job at a hardware store where he learned small engine repair. Years later he owned one of the most successful cub-cadet dealerships/service shops in Kentucky (which is saying something). My dad used to do plumbing for him and his family, so I got to spend a decent amount of time with him and his kids.

Weeeelllll, I get home from work today and find there are 2 little tripods suspended from school for two days.
Turns out a 6th grader has been picking on my kindergartner, momma told the other 2 (4th and 6th grade) to not let that shit happen. So today the street fighter Carter (mentioned earlier in this thread - hes in the 4th grade but I'm told he fights at a 6th grade level) told him to knock it off, and got put in a head lock for his troubles. Cody (pictured with his first honker yesterday) blindsided that kid in the face. They all went separate ways until my boys got called to the principals office.
As punishment they've been doing housework for the Mrs all day.
I foresee a handful in a few years.

If they're gonna get suspended for righteous fighting anyhow......you oughta teach them to make sure they inflict some serious fucking pain on the chickenshit bully before they do. Nothing sweeter for their classmates to see than a bleeding, sobbing bully.

Getting suspended for defending yourself is bullshit. Kinda like defending yourself against some goon with a butcher knife and in the case you have to shoot him to survive and you end up in jail for murder. I got 3 days of suspension last year during industrial tech because I had an 1"x2"x10' that I was walking around the room to cut a rabbit with it. Someone yelled my name, I turned around and whacked someone in the head with one end of the board. Left a big goose egg on the side of his head. Got sent to the principle and he said I need to be more careful and that for my punishment I had 3 days of ISS with some old hag.

It does give me a nice little sense of pride knowing that they will immediately defend themselves.... and actually each other in public, but I chuckle when I think of them beating the shit out of each other at home.
