My thought is for the duration of the child as a child. Your prime is early, then the body starts breaking down. I would rather make/raise babies during the prime of my body. Sure at 20 she may be better for the birth part, but what about when baby 3 comes? What about when the child is 14?

my guess is that those who gave birth at 14 were likely killed in the process, and if they survived, the baby didn't. Assa is probably right, the 20 year old would most likely have the highest capability. i would bet that back before 1900, the "best" birthing age was 17-23. you probably had high birth mortality from 14-17, and from 23 on.

FF, modern medicine has expanded the healthy range for women to have children. granted, they still have menopause in their 40's, but they are still able to have kids well into their 30's and early 40's. birth mortality is nearly nonexistent anymore.

also, back then the kids actually had responsibilities and were expected to act accordingly.

At 14 what does the hip structure of a girl look like?

Just make sure her father isn't looking when you investigate

A woman's body adjusts accordingly for child birth. That's how it works...

Without data from the 1800's this is all just opinion. Both sides.

There is no way a 14 year olds hips are just going to kick out for childbirth and be fine. There is more to the hip structure than allowing a baby to pass through. If I'm not mistaken the hips have to already be in place to help distribute the babies weight as it develops.

not to mention hormones and other development. there is so much change that has to happen in a short period of time that it would no doubt lead to complications even today, and a death sentence in the 1800's for either the mother or child.

with the amount of manual labor they did i'd imagine like me, they were much better built than most men today. hell, look at the guys who fit in girl pants, they obviously have very little muscle mass.

I live on an Air Force base and my son stands at attention when taps is playing and when the national anthem is playing as well.

On the subject of 14-year-olds having babies.
Haven't you guys ever met a 28-yr-old grandmother, her 14-year-old daughter, and the grandbaby before?
I have met several families that fit this pattern.

I have met one that basically fit that situation. She had her first kid in the 7/8th grade, don't remember exactly, and less than 2 years later she was pregnant again with a different guys baby. She had absolutely no shame for what she was doing and couldn't handle raising, or even helping to raise, the first baby. People like that deserve no respect from society and when the media makes reality shows portraying that shit on TV that doesn't help the situation one damn bit.
