I live on a horse "ranch/farm" they are everywhere and let me tell you they will bring grown men to their knees.
I kid you not a few years ago I got bit by one, and thought I was going to need stitches... that fucker left a scar.

Those bastards hurt like the devil. Seen about the most I've ever seen this year. Hate those things.

We get plenty of greenheads down at the beach, but here at the house we get these big fuckers. I swear they are the size of a quarter, and luckily are so big that you can feel them land on you through your clothes. Which is good, because they will bite straight through clothes, and make you look like you're having a seizure trying to get them off after you get bit. They tend to hold on.

The horse flies I got bit by while working at the stables...after you get bit once you start dressing different. Straw hat, thick flannel shirt, blue jeans, gloves, and boots for protection from the Damn flies. Bug spay is kept within easy reach too.
