Yea, I just said everyone will pass on something at one point or another depending on the day I've passed on spoonys and ring necks. I started giving you shit because you said you don't shoot those species in you OP. I can also honestly say after all the ducks I've eaten from our area spoonys are not shit. I've had good and bad ducks of all species. The allure of the green head is strictly because they are a large duck and they are the status symbol of an accomplished hunter in the eyes of other hunters.

So would you say a guy with a limit of mallards is a more accomplished hunter then a guy who shoots 4 widgeon in a different spot? It seems you think mallards are harder to fool but we both know if you're where they want to be that's not true.

My point exactly. I'm not hunting the best spot in the world for greenheads. So that's why I have to wait to shoot them. If I was hunting say a good club in the sink. A Limit of greenheads can take as little as 20 minutes to get on a good day. And why are we focusing on mallards. I just don't like shooting spoonys. I haven't sayed that I don't like taking every other type of puddle duck. For god sakes my handle is GadwallGetter. Bout half the guys in this state rank gadys as high as a ringneck.

I am not sure of gaddy's reasoning, but my dad tells me he passes up "shit" ducks for "good" ducks, because he has killed so many "shit" ducks when he was my age, he wants to catch up with the amount of "good" ducks. I don't understand that though, I just go out and create carnage. The only time I see my dad stop passing up ducks is when I have bypassed the amount of birds he killed. He says it would be embarrassing for him to walk out with less birds than me.

Cuz its been a good first part of the season for them.
They have made up bout 70 percent of my birds so far. And looks like a fresh batch just showed up.

I sort-of take the part back about no caring what kind of ducks I kill, I do not pass up any one species of puddle duck for other ducks, but I pass up all other species for a shot at sprigs or canvasbacks. (If I know for sure passin up that duck is going to give me a shot at a sprig or a can)

I don't think anyone is being hypocritical, I could go where you go and shoot more mallards then i do but its just not that important to me. I've never killed a limit of mallards and if I did it would only be to say I did it one. It's probably one of the only species I haven't killed 7 of.
