I ended up having a pretty good season, but had to get creative and worked my ass off doing it. The rivers feeding the delta stayed in flood stage most of the season, and that spread the ducks thin all over. The past few years, the duck numbers arriving here have been dwindling. Everybody has an opinion as to why, but my guess is the change in farming practices North of us. As long as the birds have food, there is no reason for them to travel any farther South than they have to. Would've thought the record cold this year would've given them a push, but it never happened............
There are nuclear power plants with HOT water discharge canals feeding cooling lakes that are surrounded by cornfields. No-till has changed everything too. Chemicals kill bugs now where plowing did it before.
Petrochemicals, no-till, power plants, giant Canada geese that refuse to migrate and many other factors are messing up your birds. Sorry...very large industrial forces are at work here and influence the migration.
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.
