And keep on truckin. An arrow out of a bow should easily slide right through a goose.

An arrow out of a bow will easily slide right through a goose and then some.

I'll say an air rifle is the ticket. And if not, I think some small game points would work just fine.
with a pellet gun you better hit it in the head every time or you pissing in the wind.

This is exactly why I discarded the pellet gun idea. Geese are no joke, Jeff Foiles aside. This is what I was thinking, and dammit, you nerve wracking sonsabitches, will it go through a goose or just stun it? Either one is fine, as long as there's not an arrow with this on the end hanging halfway through. And yes, it will be a crossbow. 125 gr.

I've got some of those and its gonna rip shit up but I don't think it will go through.

The only problem I see is the same problem you get when you shoot turkeys with a bow. You better incapacitate it in some way, because if you miss the vitals, that goose has a damn good chance of flying off and dying in someone's front yard. Judo/small game head is probably your best bet, but I would keep your shots close, because you may still have to Leroy Jenkins one after a solid hit.

don't use the varmint heads.use the 2 inch or bigger cuts like I suggested. Rage, swacker, kill zones or grim reapers

i saw it after I posted and I just don't see that blunt head passing through a goose with all those feathers.it seems like it would stop about half way but he'll be shooting a cross bow so it might pass through.try both heads and see which one does the better job.

that's because the bowmag is fucking stupid and wouldn't do any good in this situation.

And would do me no good. I have to show them the geese to get paid, and the bowmag would wipe out all the geese in a 4,000 square foot area, depriving me of cash money.

I want to try the small game heads for 2 reasons:

1. I already have them. No need to buy something.
2. I want the club effect rather than the knife effect. I've seen deer run a half mile with no heart from a broadhead. I suspect a goose could do the same.

If I could find something that weighed about 500 grains and looked like a rock, I'd use that instead. All I need is a stun which lasts maybe 4 seconds, so the bastards can't run away. If it goes through, that may be a bonus, but only if it falls dead, rather than swimming into the ponds and dying.

I think you're missing what I'm getting at. Broadheads are going to pass right through, and if the bird isn't incapacitate in some way, you could have a fly and die, not exactly ideal. Blunt tips aren't going to pass through, but I don't know how effectively they are going to render a bird incapacitated either, would probably require a quick follow up with a baseball bat to the back of the head or something. A golf cart and a baseball bat sounds much more fun anyway!

It's too bad there are so many houses on the course, because the whole situation has almost unlimited redneck potential. We gotta be out of there by 6 am anyway, but can't risk having the early morning jogger turn a corner and see some guy standing in the back of the cart like a Roman chariot swinging a fucking ball and chain like that dude in Mad Max.

I agree about the trial and error.

To be clear, there's no doubt that a broadhead would kill a goose. We just need it dead, or grabbable, right there, not on some old woman's deck who will then bitch to the course superintendent, who will want us out of there even earlier.

If you can get close enough, and you are using a crossbow, a neck shot with a judo or blunt tip is probably your best option. If you want to do this Assa cheap, a little birdy told me a fender washer underneath your field tip works too...

Because I may very well try putting a 3" fender washer on there, if I can find such a thing. The flying equivalent of hitting it with a brick.

Get a brights spot light and flash it in their eyes. It will give you the 3 or 4 seconds you need to get a net or your hands on them.

I really don't think it would take anything over 2". Actually, you probably wouldn't want it any bigger than you need it, as long as it doesn't penetrate you are still transmitting all of the energy.
