Family was always into wingshooting for generations. When my dad and uncle moved to states they picked up right where they left off. With my birthday being in October. I was at Gray lodge in the motor home on opening day of the same month. Pops started taking me out for afternoon hunts when I was 3. By the time I was 4 he was packing me on his back in the mornings. Walking on a levee in the pitch black, hearing thousands of ducks jumping off the ponds was addictive. Then after a couple mile walk we'd dump off into a pond. One of my first memories was being knee high at the Gray lodge check station 2 hours before check in with a few hundred guys all dressed in camo. I was kinda scared and excited all at the same time. I loved it right from the beginning. Always hearing the old timers talk about the "good old days" was a blast. I still enjoying hearing the story's. I really think that's part of why I love it so much and get out as much as I can. Constantly trying catch a day like it was back then. I can truly say waterfowling to me is much more then a hobby or a pass time. My life and year revolves around it. It's takin me to work on refuge set up days, duck clubs, and a professional outfitter. Constantly trying to get better at it and learn new things... I know I'm over passionate about this. But seriously ducks and geese are fucking aweosome!!!

My father bought me a Stevens Pump Shotgun in 1957 at Simmons Hardware Store at a special Door Buster one cent sale. He paid only a penny for it. We would go Pheasant hunting back when Pheasants had tags in California. When I was 16 and working in a service station one of the mechanics had to have Friday through Monday off. It was the opening weekend of duck season and he had a trailer at a ranch in Colusa county. It was an I need the time off or I quit sort of deal. He asked if I had a shotgun and wanted to go duck hunting for a couple of days. That was in 1960, the ranch was Terrell Farms and we shot ducks and pheasant and I was hooked on duck hunting. Years later, my father got into duck hunting, he was the Pilot for a man that owned half of Little Venice Island in the delta and they hunted flooded corn. The duck hunting was second to none and I got to go several times.

I've never actually been duck hunting, but after watching that duck dynasty show, I think it's something I could enjoy.
