lifevests? i figure if i go in anywhere up here, help won't be there and with our temps, i'll be dead in 3 minutes anyway, so i don't even bother with lifevests.

There is a temp where they become more of a novelty.
And I have seen -50 once and I will never go hunting in that.

yeah i'm pretty sure next time i see that i'm saying fuck it and getting morning poon instead.

At 0 I'm going with morning poon.

5 mil is warmer than 3.5 mil, I don't get you guys saying the reverse. Plus you are less likely to tear through on thicker neo.

I won't argue any of that.
There are just few places that require 5 mm.
Northern MN happens to be one of them.

Try 6'3", 230, with a size 16. It is a real pain in the ass for shoes, boots, waders and pretty much anything that has to do with feet.

I bet so. I'm 6'3" 220 size 13. 3 more shoe sizes would make a big difference in overall fit. Cabelas fit like they were tailor made for me.

I have a pair of size 15 cabelas dri plus breathables. The run a little short, the chest/waist is crazy huge and I can't get insulated socks in em. I have some macks pw neoprenes in a 16 and they fit great.

The one thing I'd agree with is - imo a heavier gram thinsulate in the boot will make a bigger difference in perceived warmth than the mil of the neo.

If they had waders with hvac systems...some of you guys would insist it's a requirement.
Me n Reb will invent them and call them Goldilocks waders.
They're not too warm, not too cold, but just right.

It's cold here, but not brutal. Most days it's between 10 and 35 to start the day throughout the late season. Below 10 for too long, you don't need waders here. Everything is frozen, there are no boat rides or open water to wade in. My last pair was canvas Cabela's brushbusters. I'm the last guy in the group to get cold and pick waders so my upper body is intentionally less insulated. I constantly overheat and strip down to a t shirt in below freezing temps just to let some of the heat escape. I'll be fine in 3.5's. I'm also not crawling around in them or crossing barbed wire. I use the gate.

THIS ^^^^^^^

I always wear wool socks. As long as my feet are warm, my breathables do a good job of keeping me warm. I wear good wader pants.

5 MM SUCKS, I hated it. For me, better to get the 3.5 MM and wear my Avery brutal wear under.
