Motel 6, bitches. They'll keep the light on for you, and they all take dogs. Supposed to be a $10 charge for pets, but the guy at the desk is an upland hunter with GSPs, and we started talking. Not only did he not charge me for the pup, he gave me a discounted rate, $34.99. Love it.

The downside is that after 17 hours driving yesterday, I feel like a box of hammers, almost hungover. The pup was up twice, once at 3:30 and once at 6:50 whining. Took him out and shit and peed both times, which is good, because I couldn't fit the kennel in the Silver Streak, so he's wild and free.

Our morning constitutional. Getting ready to hit the road back home.

While I'm sure there will be more "input" when we get home, Short Stack and I have narrowed it down to 3 names:

Dutch
Cap
Banjo

So Jimbo you said the breeder was playing match maker based on yours and the pups personality traits right? What were some of the traits he could see in this pup?

The pup preferred ol'roy instead of blue buffalo.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

I like Cap for a name, banjo would not be that good to holler for commands, IMO.

CAP! would be something he would hear and recognize easily. Best of the 3 names, IMO.

He should be named Trixie to match Dixie....

I'm going to end the dog name debate now and forever.

From the Wiki "Dutch" page:

The Dutch have an aversion to the non-essential. Ostentatious behaviour is to be avoided. Accumulating money is fine, but the gratuitous spending of money is considered something of a vice and associated by some people with being a show-off. A high style is considered wasteful and suspect with most people.

I like Cap. Easy to yell when you are pissed and want to be heard from across the marsh.
