I agree 100% but unfortunately some humans are inherently bad, a level of evil a normal hard working person could never fully understand.

exactly why we once had a "needed killin" law. people who are evil should be publicly hanged.

I'm not sure what this means but I'm all for a public hanging once in a while as long as the suspect had a fair trial and no one violated his rights as an American. but that said its naive to thing the general public would take the day off work to catch a murderer, do a legal investigation and provide a fair trial being careful not violate the suspects rights.

How in the fuck can I get pulled over and told I owe the government money for not wearing my seat belt. I'm not endangering anyone but myself, which I should be allowed to do anyway. The point of this example is to show that the police in America are not serving the tax paying citizens but serving a fascist government. Basically, the police have been given more power than they should ever of had, as well as, abuse said power to uphold bullshit laws that contradict the oath they take. What I'm saying and what I think part of the point of this thread is that police don't serve citizens the way they should, instead they do what the hell they want because they believe they hold all the power. Which seriously goes against the constitution and if any leo believes differently than they are, for lack of a better term, a commie.

So if I understand you correctly, I'm a commie because I don't believe I hold all the power?

it has become more convoluted to say the least.

it was at one time considered your civic duty as a citizen to do just that. at this point though, nobody seems to give a fuck either way. make it disappear so people can watch the current reality tv craze.

Do some real research and you'll find law enforcement has come a long way in terms of corruption.

I would counter that the police are only policed by the fear of law suits and not by society making sure they do the right and moral thing.

I know you're a cop and I really do try and tread lightly on this subject but this exact story is proof that we give to much broad authority to police without question. I think that is a by product of a much larger problem in America where we have lost touch with the self sufficient and rebellious nature that made this country what it used to be however.

Why is it when someone points out an inconsistency with your argument it's putting words in your mouth?

I believe you stated this exact story is proof

Ok fellas........Here's the simple solution.
Every single citizen should be entitled to one free murder. Only one per lifetime. If someone hasn't used this free pass yet....who would fuck with them?

Red, i hardly think you're dumb. see my post about civic duty. at one time people actually did stuff just because "it was the right thing to do." and their duty as a citizen. The sheriff enforced the law, but so did everyone else.

They once could, but as society stands currently, no i don't think people could enforce it. I also believe there are far too many laws on the books that shouldn't be there.

People with good moral character i believe could do it fairly. how many of them are actually out there, i don't know.

Let me add to that by saying, I'm not calling you out individually as not doing it fairly but a lot of cops don't. Especially here in the south where not many are fair at all. Most here are racist, sexist, etc no matter what race or sex they are.

I think Reb feels much the same as me, the current path we are on is going to lead to ruin. we need law enforcement that doesn't answer to the government.

the only reason for the federal government to exist is to protect from foreign invasion, make treaties, and maintain interstate commerce. that's all.
