I love it when I hear kids at my school talking about how they are going to get the "duck dynasty call that Phil has", when from what I have heard, Duck Commander calls don't sound that great anyway. They're not bad, but they're not good either. Oh and I was a fan of Duck Commander (not they're calls, just the people) before it was cool.

It does suck. I loved watching Duckmen with my cousin when I was like 10. Now I can't stand their asses.

Back then they were just duck hunters. I know the words "sell outs" gets thrown around a lot. But hell with it. They are making a better life for them selves. I say go for it.

I haven't seen this yet. Yesterday some doucher frat tastic guys were hanging around the ramp, seemed like they were waiting on us bc they all saw where we were hunting at, heard us shooting all morning and passed us on the way in (3 guys and a dog in a Jon boat with a trolling motor) we took forever getting to the ramp. We had a decent haul ...scratch that... A great haul for Georgia standards yesterday. saw them waiting so we hid the ducks under the decoys and told them we didn't kill anything  I have a feeling those guys are gonna be in my damn spot next time if I don't get out there early enough.

I'm for realz. Had group of kids last year try and steal decoys from my blind while I was in it. 5 guys, 2 decoy bags and about 3month old pup in a 12 jon boat with a trolling motor. I fired a warning shot in the air and they rolled the boat. Here it's high school kids just old enough to drive. My younger brother, a senior in high school, wanted his buddy to hunt eith us. I said sure. The kid is a total douche. Kept talking about Chad Belding like he was God. After the 5th flock, I threw his calls in the water because he wouldn't stop blowing em after I told him too. My brother was embarrassed by him and hasn't me to take anyone else.

I can't wait for it to pass. I'm used to hunting stupid ducks, fuck, I'm usually the first to shoot at a lot of these ducks. But this year, I couldn't get hardly any birds in range, and forget about cupped up and feet down. They wouldn't even land with live ducks. I saw guys taking 2-300 yard shots, it's almost like they think they're shooting rifles.

Are you sure they will give up that easily?

I know a guy who regularly takes shots on ducks and geese at 100+ yards. He has been hunting for 30+ years and cant have any better than a 4 or 5% success rate.

Here's the part I don't get. He has watched others clean up by hunting properly, he hardly ever comes home with a worth while number of birds, and he continues to hunt/hunt in this fashion... Why does he not learn or quit after 30 years?

I hope you're right.

At bass pro I went to go look for shells even though I ordered a case online, I thought I might find a good deal or something being closer to the holidays. While I was looking I heard guy wearing all Drake gear ask his buddy what the fraction meant on the box, then his buddy said he didn't know but he always used #2's for everything.

I didn't know if I should have laughed or been scared that guys like that were going to be hunting the same area as me.

I can only hope they give up soon. I can't imagine going out every year and freezing my ass off and only having a 4-5% success rate. I don't hunt for the sole purpose of killing a limit every time I go out, but success has a way of keeping the cold away. If all I did was shoot two boxes of shells and freeze my ass off, I think I would quit pretty quick.

I've taken one of these DC wannabes out hunting, and.actually tought him to be a waterfowler. He's a great kid and learned a lot. We ended up hunting all last season together and a blast. His buddy however, told me he was only interested in drinking beer and killing stuff. He will never hunt with me. I don't mind teaching the sport to newcomers, but I would have had my work cut out for me with that one.

It's fun just being out there to me. I'm sure that's what Keeps them in it too. its fun just to see birds. Hell I've never been a " duck hunting is my fucking life" guy like most of y'all are. And I'm not talking shit, I wish I lived somewhere where the hunting was better or I could afford to travel to those spots, I would be fully submersed too. But I've also never been the guy who does it for status or to show off and be trendy. I really just enjoy it. Gettin out there early, seeing the sun come up over the water and watching them fly is enough to give me a raging boner. And with the lack of bird numbers and dealing with so many idiots out there its exciting just to get a few groups to work your spread. Killing them is just icing on the cake some mornings. I do my reading, ask a lot of questions of more experienced waterfowlers and try to do it right though. This year I plan on getting out there a lot more than I have in the past too.
