I didn't realize you guys got an early season this year. I haven't been following the Washington regs at all this year. How many birds are they letting you guys have for early season limits?

I'd call today a success even with the bad spot. Wasn't hidden as well as I thought when the sun came up and had to move a hundred yards down an hour in. Ended up with my pups first duck and my brothers first duck, first animal he's killed for that matter.

Took my friends daughter and her boyfriend out tonight, along with a few others for some goose action. We were back in a fresh cut corn field isolated by a hedgerow and green fields. Decided to hunt it in the evening because we can't hunt it on Sundays(Amish land) As we were setting up 12 came locked in ready to land, needless to say so one had their guns loaded so they got nothing out of it. 45 minutes go by and another 12 bird flock came in, I saw the one on the very end was banded so I yelled to make sure someone tagged the end one...11 shots and two dead birds. They got lucky and one of the last couple shots and got the banded bird. Spent the rest of the night getting ones and twos coming in oblivious to anything. Just locked up as soon as they spotted the field. Been a good couple hunts lately and going to try and continue it tomorrow, though we won't be on the X, we will hopefully be close enough to pull some over.

I posted this in the NY forum over there on DC, but I'll add it here. We shot a good number of tiny birds here today. I have never seen birds this small before here so it is kind of weird. I know you guys have them out west, but these birds were like 6lbs tops. Probably 6 or 7 of them mixed in with the more typical 9-11lbers. Wondering if they just got mixed up in the migration or maybe they are just spreading? not sure, but cool little things

Great opening teal season hunt here in Louisiana with my son and two of my buds. Despite getting pounded by Hurricane Issac two weeks ago we were still able to scratch out a four man limit.

there are, I think 7 subspecies of Canada goose. Two or three of which migrate down the east coast, maybe in your neck of the woods. I'm only familiar with our Aleutians and cacklers (which I believe are now both classified as cacklers) and Lessers.

I'm jealous of one thing in that picture. That specklebelly. Never shot one, and unless I go cross country, I'll never get one. Sadface

Nice trip tripod, I'm of the opinion that a few good trips like that a season is worth more than 3 or 4 dozen mediocre hunts, and in the end it costs about the same

I really don't know, when they are included in the package you don't care. When Chris dropped us off we would all grab 2 boxes of BBs and 1 box of 3 shot for the ducks, then he would stash a whole case under a goose shell. If I had to guess we were averaging 1-2 boxes each per hunt.

Ya, you know for me it was one of those bucket list hunts that I loved so much I will do again one day. Don't get me wrong the shooting was more insane than any I've ever been on before in my life, but it was the whole experience that made it unforgetable.

And I appologize if it comes off sounding like I'm bragging, but I know you guys like the stories more than my wife does.

Brag away! Looks like an amazing hunt! My bucket list hunt is up in Saskatoon.
