Good Hunt Crazy People!!!

Postby Bootlipkiller » Wed Nov 14, 2012 3:51 pm

So me and Juice Box had an interesting hunt today at the local refuge. pulled a good draw on the lottery and got in first thing. We set out heading toward a certain spot with no chance of anyone being in the pond. We got about 50 yds from the pond when some ass hat with no decoys comes running full speed past us in the dark and turns into the pond we were planing on hunting. we regroup after I called the guy "very Classy" and Juice Box yelled "Dick" at the guy. we hunted a near by pond and killed a few birds watching the same ass hat sky scrape at everything that came with in 100 Yds.

At 7:30 we see the guy leave and make a move to the original spot we planed to hunt. We shot a few more birds once we got set up and I see this guy about 300 yds away walking south toward our pond. after a few minutes I look up and hes about 60 Yds away just standing on the levee separating the two ponds starring at us. I thought the guy might just being walking around checking out the refuge but with him standing there he started flaring any birds trying to work the pond. then all the sudden the guy starts firing his gun every time a bird started to work our spread.

I asked the guy what his deal was and he said something about a goose and tells me I'm not a hunter I'm a scavenger. then he accuses me of stealing a goose from him. I look at juice box he looked at me and I yell "what the hell are you talking about". the Guy finally ran out of shells and started clapping his hands every time birds worked our pond. Juice Box asked the ass hat for his name and he said "my name is ass hole".

5 minutes later the guy walked away and all I could think was WTF!!!!!

we still have no idea what the hell this crazy ass hat was talking about or where he came from.

How can you hunt out there and not fill someone's ass full of steel?!?! You also said you drew that spot, how does that work if you have these other clowns to deal with??

Same thing that came to my mind. This is the reason I avoid these WMA/refuge/sign in spots. It has an amusement park feel to it and robs me of the great outdoors experience. The only thing that has me considering it again and again is the proof of that nice bag like the OP posted. But just pure hell to get it. Good grief.

That doesn't happen here. At least i've never heard of it happening. Should have put a good scare into him and just walked right up to him.

Basically you draw a number and the lower that number is the earlier you get let in and you get first pick of the area you want to hunt. The area we hunted today had a quota of 25 guys and is very large but most know you will only do good in a few spots. We were the 4 th and 5 th guys on today and the guy that ran by us was probably the 15 th guy let into the area. Technically he did not break any laws by running past us but now I wish I would have triped him.

As for the other dick head, I called DFG but they were an hour away and it's not like I could give them a good description to pick the guy out. "He's a white male with brown hair, kinda chubby wearing camo". I don't think they would catch him with that description.

I hunt wilson hill regularly, upper lower is always pretty slow, and perch river is fair at best. Never been to montezuma. Of the ones ive hunted, ive never had someone do what happened to boot.

Sky busting happens, but its almost always the older guys..60+.

Me and juice box strongly considered walking at the guy but I pussed out when I started thinking if he's this crazy and has a gun their is a strong possibility this guy might give me a reason to shoot him. Not worth it!!!

Not sure what it is. You'd be hard pressed to see me shoot beyond 30, but these guys start pulling the trigger at 70 yards on birds that are cupped and commited. Blows my mind.

Do you hunt wilson hill often? Been a while since ive missed a limit there by 9.

I can't hit crap past 35 yards. I don't pick up my gun if they are past 40yds. It's just how I was taught to hunt by my dad! Last birds of the day were a group of 4 gadwall that we shot at 10 yds and killed all 4 with 4 shells. Love Em in close!!!

What can I say, I don't like wasting shells on cripples or chasing them all over the place. Ever notice how many ducks come around while you are out chasing cripples? Lost opportunity to "pluck em up"

I had the same conversation with juice box today after the gadwall slaughter. He's a reformed sky scraper, I've shamed him into not being a sky busting faggot anymore.

But if you would have described him as "the guy who is bleeding" :wink wink: they would have had no problem locating him.

You could have added, "he's laying on the ground, has no teeth, a split lip and 2 black eyes" to the description and that might have made it easier to ID him.
