Haha I'm finally out here deer hunting for the first time since I was a young teenager. Waiting for the sun to come up without seeing ducks feels weird. Wish me luck!

Kill the grouse and the squirrels but let the woodpecker and the chickadees live.

Nothing but crows and a flock of about 8 mallards.

One of the slowest openers I can remember. Haven't seen any more deer. I looked at the 22 pistol this morning but decided not to bring it.

Always have a 22 with you when deer hunting. In a pinch, they will kill a deer if you run out of rifle bullets, allegedly.

Opening day of rifle in MI! Keep the updates coming! I won't find out how my friends did until Monday, I'm in the land of no cell service (and barely any interwebz).

Pee. It won't bother the deer a bit.

Nothing better than watching it fall from a tree stand. Let 'er rip Olly.

I wasn't worried about the deer. My fingers are freezing! It was like a first date with Jack Frost...

Nah I'm gonna give it until about 1 then call it a day. Tomorrow I'll split it up between morning and night with a nap.

Other than opening day, I hated tree stand hunting, I could only make it about 30 minutes before I'd climb down and take a nap. Then I would head home for lunch.

you should try still hunting. Pretty much everyone does it in the west and it seems to work real well. Just go real slow and keep scanning for movement.

I'd prefer it to at least be Jane Frost but hey if that's how y'all do things in the UP no judgement here
