Go pheasant hunting. It's all I've got till the end of the year. And then... I could try and find some coyotes maybe? Or I could start to aknowledge that I have a girlfriend again I suppose.

Being serious. Get into your turkey hunting gear and get your smallest caliber rifle that has a sweet scope and go squirrel hunting. Bring a friend and a flask for added results. Tons of videos online on how to skin them in minutes and they are awesome eating.

edit: oh yea, hunt them like turkeys too. Just sit and snipe them.

There are only a couple months out of the year that there isn't something open for me. After ducks I have grouse til Feb, ice fishing until March/April, turkey in may, bass in june. Then I usually take july and august off for prep to do it all again. This year I will be getting back into rabbit hunting and possibly trapping, although that will most likely happen next year. Always something to do!

I'm waiting on ice fishing. Got all my gear out the other day and started making yearly upgrades/ repairs to my shack.

Tell me about it. I can shoot Dnr chickens till the 31st then squirrels for another month I think. Then Coyotes if i get bored. All with a little ice fishing mixed in if we ever get any ice. Then about a month for turkeys, then spring walleyes, and then summer muskys and bluegills. Then its damn near time to start over again.

Our last split hasn't opened yet. And I've got deer until Jan 31st, and snows until April.

Only conservation season, but they haven't even showed up the last two years. And if the current weather forecast is any indicator, they won't be here this year, either. 90% of the time, jump shoot- I don't have the patience to sit around listening to that Godawful e-caller.

I've jumpshot them and I've sat and listened to an e-caller and I would rather jumpshoot them any day.

Same here. It's not my caller, and the guys I hunt them with, who have the spreads, just don't believe in EVER turning that effing thing off. If they're laying out, I say thanks but no thanks, and only go along for the jump shoots any more.

This will be my second year giving it a shot. Not quite sure what we are doing wrong in the fall time, besides not using an e-caller. Maybe it's just not the field they want to be in, who knows. 10,000 are in the area, about half of them come check out the spread, 1,000 at a time. They circle a couple times at about 70 yards and then just fly away. Last spring was our first attempt and the snows blew through while we were at work during the week because the weather was so warm. Crossing our fingers this year, but I'd really like to get into them.

A snow goose hunt is something I've wanted to do for a while. Heck I just saw my first snows "up close" this past fall in canada. They just don't really come thru MN.

That should do it. Didn't realize you had that many. I've seen guys go out with about 100, and just want to tell them to quit wasting their time. If you have that many, get the e-caller. And some ear plugs.

I've got an e-caller. Legally I can't use it until all other bird seasons are closed. Allegedly it may come out within the next couple weekends to see if that is the problem. Allegedly.

Is it worth it for you? We have a 25 bird regular limit, and no limit conservation.

25 bird limit. Worth it to me as I've never been actually successful yet. I hunt with 2 other guys, so 75 birds would make me pretty happy.

I've never limited out, but like I said, I pretty much just hunt conservation when they're here. We used to have a 15 bird limit on resident Canadas, and three of us once dropped 34 (if i remember right) from one flock. That was my moment of glory.

We've had an 8 bird limit for as long as I can remember. Most ever was a 7 guy limit in about 30 minutes, a lot of birds, but no 34 in one flock.

We're down to 9 now. Sucks. We get very large flocks of residents. Way bigger than when the migratory arrive, almost like the "new blood" splits up the flocks.

We get bigger flocks in migratory, but I'll take 3-5 birds at a time any day over the 20+ ones. Hard to work them in and it takes them so long that they usually mess up the smaller flocks coming in. Our resident season is pretty cake. Set up the decoys in the right field and they come in cupped from first sight.

That's only for two weeks of resident goose. The rest of the time we get 2. Because the "resident" birds then disappear, or some fancy magical shit necessitating dropping the limit to two. Because everyone knows there is a shortage of Canada geese. They're not in every drainage runoff from hear to Saskatoon, year round, by the bucketful.
