Shit John it's my day off. Not sure if I'll be able to compete. I do more on my days off than I do at work

I already lost, been busy as hell this morning here at work.

Jarbo I getcha. I hate doing jobs in places where you can only work when they are closed.

I hope they started the cintest day at 9 not midnight because between midnight and 7 this morning we ran 21 medical calls.

Done no real work whatsoever. However, I did have two coons and a skunk in my traps. Between them, I've been occupied for a while.

Stayed home from work today, which I think disqualifies me from this contest, but so far I've taken a dump, and brought the garbage can out to the street

How does one deal with a skunk in a trap without getting sprayed? Do you just run by as fast as you can and whack him on the head and hope for the best?

Shoot him with the .22 about 3 times, then walk away and check all the other traps. Come back when you're sure he's dead, roll him out of the trap with a stick (your boots will stink no matter what, which means your Jeep will stink, no matter what), and roll him about 20 yards away. Then reset the trap, because skunk scent draws foxes, for some horrible reason. I'll be surprised if I don't have a fox in it tomorrow, stinking only mildly of skunk spray.

So if I am reading correctly you leave the skunk out there to attract the foxes in and then bait the trap as well? Learn something new everyday!

Yep. And the area around the trap where he sprayed when you shot him (they all do, no matter what) is generally pretty productive. The scent of the skunk attracts them (mostly just to see what's going on in the neighborhood), and then the smell of the lure gets them to the trap. Plus, the skunk stink will cover up any scent you may leave around.

I've taught a lot of swimming lessons for skunks caught in livetraps. I'm not a very good instructor.

I would much rather have shot them though and made it quick, to be honest it wasn't a lot of fun.
