Well, it's 0400hrs here and, the rig is packed and, as soon as I take a shower, we're hittin' the road.
It was snowing here yesterday and the weatherman predicted more during the night. I just looked outside and it looks like the warmer weather got here quicker than expected. It is rain and snow mixed but mostly rain. Hoping the rain mixing in is something that continues.
Wish me luck, the drive is long enough without snow.

Well, I've stopped traveling for the night and checked into a cheap motel in Corning California.
Got lucky, thanks for all the well wishes, it looks like it worked.
No real bad weather. There was a 60 car pile up last night on a stretch of the freeway we traveled today but it was all cleaned up before we came through.
Took a few pics while driving down the road, cell pics, ugh. This is the only one that even halfway turned out. as you can see nothing bad, yet.



They're talking major snow fall in the areas we have already driven through, tonight and for the next few days.(as much as 5' at over 3000')
May still end up heading through Red's neck of the woods on my way back next week, after Christmas. If only the ol' lady duckhunted, it would be an easier sell.

If only I could get Cali to let me split the 2 day license. I'm only gonna hunt 1 day down south(if at all) but, since it isn't at a club they require a two day license.

Well, we finally made it here. Sat in traffic between LA and Santa Ana for something like 4 hours. Needless to say, we will be taking the coast route onthe way back. And, yes, for those wondering, there are way too many people here.

QH, I went thought LA just once just to see it. Never again, I feel for you.

Same here. Drove down one weekend when I was stationed in Monterey. I mean it when I say "never again".

Right now, the plan is still to hunt on Christmas eve day. I drove over to look at the area and saw enough birds to keep my interest. I've never shot a Ruddy and I saw alot of them while there. Hoping the guys I'm hunting with have an angle on them. They have also shot a few redheads in the last month, so that's another option I wouldn't mind.
The drive is the only drawback, it took 3 1/2 hours to drive there today.
