Some of you know that my 4x4 on my truck is out right now, this morning I was going to the store and got stuck at the end of my drive way leaving my truck 1/4 in the road. I called a buddy to come give me a tow and while waiting for him I watched 30 cars drive by with a lot of them being big 4x4 trucks. Not one person stopped to even ask if I needed a hand. I started laughing at the ones that would look at me then stare straight ahead like I wasn't even there.

If this had been in the south you would have had every good ole boy stopping and asking if I needed help and if they couldn't have help they would have had their cousins cousin out with chains.

I never ever EXPECT anyone to stop but it's just a reminder of how different these two regions are. I'll still stop every time I see someone stuck up here.

The last time I saw a Chevy stuck in a drift, I drove around him, backed up to the front of his truck, hooked him to the back of my Ford and pulled him for a 1/2 mile to the next paved road.

I've been telling myself that I want to keep my truck until my next promotion. After my buddy pulled me out I almost drove straight to the Ford dealership.

I've never had mine stuck...but then again, it's a fleet vehicle so it will go almost anywhere a rental car will go.

Yesterday we had 8" worth of snow compacted into 3" o slush on unfrozen ground, another 6-10" of wet snow on top of that, if you got off the pavement with a drive wheel and didn't have mad skills or if you didn't have clearance and momentum you were fucked like grogan's goat

What you are saying Olly, is true. I have pulled 3 strangers out today. Ask for snow and you shall recieve. Got what jehler got except for only about 3 inches of powder on top.

As for brands, I have all three of the major brands(gm,ford,dodge) Havent been disappointed in any of them but I'll still take my diesel over the others.

Something very close to this is going to be my next truck.

We don't play that north south BS in the west. We have plenty of remote areas that could be bad news if someone was stranded there for long. Out here you help each other out.
There are exceptions but, for the most part you at least make a call for them.
When I say west I mean the real west. Nothing east of Montana and Wyoming are considered west.
Of course, in major metro areas, you get what you get.

The snow storm we got down here sucked for driving. The roads weren't really cold yet. So that first layer of snow melted then froze so it turned all the roads into like 2 inch thick sheets of ice. After me and my buddy got off work, we cruised around town and helped a couple of people out. People down here turn retarded when the weather turns. I think I saw like 15 or so cars in the ditch just that afternoon.

How deep was the snow Olly?

Everyone that's new to northern Mi. gets addicted to Mackinaw Is. fudge, until the newness wears off. At least I think that's what he meant.
