Not a very merry xmas!

Went out duckin this morning and saw tons of ducks all flying before LST. Winged one merg, Cami had an awesome 20 minute retrieve chasing it around in between dives! Came home and put the rib roast in the oven. So far so good. Decided to take the dog down to the local farm where they stock Pheasant to give her a good run. At about the same time my wife takes off to work. We (me and the dog) get to the farm which hasn't been stocked since Oct. so I was basically just going there because Cami LOVES running around sniffing out Pheasant even though I know we are not going to see any this late in the year. We are there about 10 minutes, pushing a real thick area that is full of blow downs from a micro burst about 10 years ago, when we have to climb over a down pine tree. I stand up on the log and Cami goes to jump over it and gets stuck on her belly. She wiggles over the log and starts acting funny like she had a thorn stuck in her. I get over to her and look at her and she has a 8 inch gash across her stomach right in front of her left hind leg. The hole is so big I could have put my fist in it! Inside the tear I can see her leg muscle on one side and her intestines and ribs on the other. Thank God it didn't go all the way through into her stomach. She is at the Vets being operated on now. They say she is going to be ok but I just want her back home with me. I just called to see how she is doing and they said she was still in surgery. This is the worst christmas ever! All I can say is if she doesn't make it, at least she went doing what she loved!

Damn Capt, that sucks! I know the feeling of telling the vet to do whatever they've got to do to get the dog fixed up. Hope everything works out alright.

Just called the vet, she's still in surgery. They said everything is going good but there was more damage than they first thought. Still saying that she will be fine though. Going back to crying in my Bourbon. that is all

the thing thats killing me right now is that they said she was trying to kiss (lick) them as they were putting her under. Thats my baby!
Thats exactly the way she is. But I really didn't need to hear that right now.

Brother that's a good sign if they let you bring her home already. Tug had to stay for 3 days.

she's on the couch next to me, whining quit a bit. But I think we're making each other feel a little better.
I changed my sig a couple of weeks ago cause at the time it made sense. Today it means a whole lot more to me!
I'll keep you all updated tomorrow, right now I'm going to go to sleep on the couch next to my dog because there is no place I'd rather be!
