Diesel, took a job a ways off, bid it in July when fuel was 3ish a gallon, now it's 4.30 and winter slow drive. Working and going backwards, I'm thinking maybe I need to file bankruptcy, get a new dba, work under he table and get me a food card

Damn straight. I think I'm going to make my nuisance trapping official this spring. I fully expect to lose about $11,000 a year with that business.

I'd have to explain that "due to fuel prices going up since the original contract was made" and ask to charge a fuel fee.
Then say we could just part ways NOW and settle in court. If given that choice I'd pay the extra.
Most REASONABLE people would too. I've had to do it before.
It's not easy or fun asking someone for help but since you are the one helping them...do it. What have you got to lose? A job that's costing you money.

I bought a diesel truck when gas broke $2/gallon. Diesel was $1.75 then.
The summer where it got over $4/gal the first time BROKE me. My company couldn't handle that.
I TRIED! Drove that beast for two years doing free estimates.
The funny part is that I tried to sell Jehler my truck. It hasn't moved buddy.
Want pictures?

Good thing that's not happening here. I'd have no reason to have a 275 gallon fuel oil tank next to the garage.

i think that's why it happens here a lot. every one has their own fuel tanks for the boats and all the fish houses and marinas have offroad fuel. you have to go to another town to get highway diesel

Sigh. I loved my diesel until fuel hit $4/gallon. Haven't driven it in two years, or is it three?
I'll sell it this summer. Should have done it last summer.
Tired of looking at it sitting there not making me money.
Someone will want that Cummins but not the truck I betcha.

They'll check fuel filters here too.
