Damn really??? Maybe it's a west coast thing. Astoria, OR has an annual Goonies Day to celebrate the most famous movie ever filmed there.

Maybe that's why- because "cult classic" is generally code for "the movie sucks, but we've convinced ourselves and enough other people that it's good, that it must actually be good" Sort of like the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I don't use the term cult classic Jimbo. It's a good flick. We're talking bank robbers, a gang of kids, pirates, hidden treasure, Sloth! It's got it all. The funny fat kid. The geeky asian kid. A young Corey Feldman

I think its more of a generational thing. A lot of straights who were stoned out of their gourd enjoyed RHPS.

I live just under am hour from Astoria and didn't know they had "goonies day". C'mon on Red you're making this shit up, aren't you?
I think i probably saw goonies, due to the age of my kids(they're grown now) but, I couldn't tell you anything about it. I was thinking the "where's the beef" lady was in it, that's about all I remember about it.
