Make sure to post up some pics in the boat forum! It needs a little lovin only Red can provide.

I've been thinking about getting a smaller boat for when it's just me and the mut. 18ft jon boat is a little much by myself sometimes.

Yea right. It'll be the 4th junk boat in my fleet. I have nothing on some of the high dollar rigs I've seen in there.

Anyone here is welcome to come hunt with me anytime y'all find yourselves in the upper peninsula of MI. At least for this season, next summer I'm moving to god knows where. Hopefully somewhere with good duck hunting!!!

I'm hoping to get back to the south for sure. I dunno if I will be in the USCG or not we'll see. I would like to get out and find a good civilian job so I can buy some land and settle down but with things in the economy the way they are it's hard.

Are you USCG? If so, get on at Astoria Or station and you'll be in the middle of birds all season. :duck:

Yup, I'm active duty. I've never been to OR I did live in California back in 08' but not during duck season, not that I had my guns or any gear with me.

I think you'd like it up there.

There's also a CG station in Brookings OR, 20 minutes away from some awesome speck hunting, and 5 away from some great fishing for lings and black rock fish.

Best friend just left SSM a few years ago. Was a DC there with the CG. He's in VA now, just got of a 6 month cruise.

Chris O'grady. He's been stationed in Hawaii on the Jarvis, SSM, Florida Keys, Corpus Christi, and now VA. We both went in at the same time in 02.

He went CG and I went Air Force. Both still in although he still does all the tours and such. I've been done with all that for a few years now. Still do TDY's now and then if they need a trainer for the live weapon drops at Ft. Drum here in NY.

As an AF guy it's not bad at Ft. Dumb. I would hate to be one of the 15,000 E-1 - E-3 Army grunts though.

The first base I was ever stationed at was a tiny Army Post in Livorno, Italy. When I got to Minot AFB, ND I remember walking on the sidewalk around the BX to get to the parking lot and a random LtCol walked up to me and said "It's ok, you can walk on the grass." Kinda funny the totally different atmospheres.

That name rings a bell. My old man works for a company that makes instrument landing systems for airports. Basically all the fancy radar stuff at the end of the runways and in the control towers that help land planes when its stormy, cloudy, foggy etc. This was a long time ago, but they had a contract over at the Minot AFB and he got to go over there for 2 weeks to help install and test a system. He took some cool pictures of the planes since he was right out on the runway.
