I love those old sci-fi movies, even though I'm not a sci-fi fan. Them, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and on and on. Great flicks. Matter of fact, I'm watching old Twilight Zones on Netflix as we speak. Only 223 more episodes to go.

The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street in season one is my favorite episode. I have all the seasons on DVD.

I have to go to...Ludlow this afternoon. It's winter so the grasshoppers are hybernatin'...but I'm still scared.
I can see it now...Someone is going to have to haul a TV to our hunt so we can make popcorn and watch "Them". Can't think of a better way to get in the "KILL-zone". The old "scary" movies are priceless.
I get this network called MeTV. It's all old stuff. Perry Mason, Gunsmoke, Rockford Files, you name it... On Saturday nights they have a guy called "Svengoolie". He does the scary movies...kind of like ElVira except a fat dude who tells lame jokes and gets chickens thrown at him. Svengoolie is something that's unique and MEtv is preserving it. Good stuff! I used to live in Rantoul...I mean Rantucky.

Have you seen the twilight zone where they guy is flying and he sees a gremlin trying to rip the wing apart? Every time I fly I think of that episode!

Yep. Had Captain Kirk in it. Actually, I'm amazed at all the later-to-be-famous actors you see in these old episodes.

Without ever seeing it I would guess it's in the same class as Napolean dynamite. Anyone that liked that movie is homely.

Agreed. Horrible movie. Unless it gets good after about the 20 minute mark, because that's as far as I've ever been able to make it.

Those side step remarks don't detract from my original statement: Invaders from Mars is the worst movie ever made, bar none.
RENT IT and tell me what you think.
Who's gonna take the challenge????

I liked Uncle Rico...."if the coach would have put me in, we would have been state champs back in '88".
When I started watching it, I was fascinated that such a terrible movie could be released...and as it drug on, it got shittier and shittier.
I mean, it was so bad it started being funny.

"The pic on the left was taken in Tennessee in 1870. The one on the right in 1860. It's obvious Nicholas Cage and John Travolta are vampires."

TK, you should try eating one of my turds, it's the worst thing you will ever taste! That's about the same as asking someone to watch a movie worse than anything Nic Cage has done.:-o:-o:lol::lol::lol:

I don't blame you for being afraid. Invaders from Mars takes very large testes to endure, something that has been a blessing and a curse throughout my life. How do you know what one of your turds tastes like? And they can't be worse than the second piece of goose jerky you gave me to try at Leavenworth County lake last September.

I will take your word for it, I don't have to stick my hand in the fire to know it's hot. I smelled my bathroom last night, ain't no way that can be good! The name itself tells me it sucks.

Fair enough Jerry....
Plot
On the night of a meteor shower, young David Gardner sees an alien spacecraft land in a sand quarry behind his house. This is the beginning of an alien invasion that sees David's parents (George and Ellen Gardner), his teachers and the townspeople slowly assimilated by the alien lifeforms, returning with less emotions. The only one who believes David is the school nurse, Linda Magnuson. Together, David and Linda enlist the aid of the U.S. Marines to help save the world. The film ends when David realizes that everything that has happened was a dream. He tells his parents what happened, and wonders if his dream will become a nightmare, especially when the alien spacecraft begins to land, and David witnesses something that terrifies him so much that he begins screaming, but remains unseen to the audience.
Box office
Invaders from Mars was released on 6 June 1986 to a disappointing theatrical intake, opening in seventh place.[2] In total, it earned a paltry $4,884,663 at the US box office, a major loss from its $12,000,000 budget.
Reception
The film received mostly poor reviews from critics during its release, and currently holds a 27% approval rating on movie review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.
Time Out wrote, "...whereas the original worked by building up an increasingly black mood, this version relies almost entirely on the special effects; and such limited brooding tension as it has is gratuitously undermined by a string of sequences played purely for laughs."
It was nominated for two awards at the 7th Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Supporting Actress for Louise Fletcher and Worst Visual Effects.

My friend put on a movie on Netflix, the pool boy 2 (maybe?). It was beyond bad. I can take a bad movie if it's cheesy and stupidly funny (hobo with a shotgun), but I couldn't handle that one.

I had Netflix like 4 years ago. There are so many shitty movies on it that I found myself watching some pretty dumb shit. After 4 months I dumped it.
