Yeah, I got it once I remember order of operations hence the MDAS. Some of us have been out of school too long and slept since that time and it doesn't register as quickly. Oh yeah, some of us aren't nerds either!

I understand the 1. But some of those people were getting 4, 5, 3.5, and 0. Where do those #s come from?

I can see where someone could get 5 but I don't know about the rest.

Who the hell cares? If somebody gave me a problem like that, I'd call them a dumbass and walk away. And yet another day passes where I haven't used algebra.

I'd be lying if I said I even tried to do it. Math holds as much appeal for me as a colonoscopy.

I use math every day at my job. It's very important to my job to get the math right or I could lose my job for burning up the greens with chemicals... The thing is I could've stopped taking math after 4th grade and i would still be able to do the math I need for these calculations. Add subtract multiply divide.

Exactly. I used geometry quite a bit as a carpenter. But algebra and up? Waste of my fucking time.

You can't do geometry without basic algebra. Unless your putting the cube through the square hole and the ball through the round hole.

Nonsense. Before about 15 years ago, geometry was taught long before algebra. I took geometry in 7th grade, then geometry II in 8th. Algebra came in 9th grade.

So what do you do in geometry then? The geometry I learned all dealt with finding dimensions of shapes and angles and finding the area of spaces by using basic algebra skills.

Almost everything that is math involves basic algebraic skills. They just don't tell everybody that because people tend to freak out.

I don't use math often, but when I do, I use order of operation myfriends

I took enough math for them to tell me I could graduate. That was it.

I remember them telling me I needed to learn how to do all that math because I won't always be carrying a calculator. Guess what, my phone is better then a graphing calculator.
