Get yourself some of those Nascar tires. They drive'em flat all the time.

This is what I have in mind. The lower unit will be buried in the ground and encased in cement. It will act as a sleeve for a smaller diameter pipe that will swing freely. I will drill a hole through both pipes at the base and insert a sheer pin of sorts. I am thinking a # 2 pencil would work.

Any constructive thoughts or ideas??

I'd build that thing out of 10" diameter pipe with 3/8 wall and fill it full of cement and burry it 4 foot down. Then a HD stainless steel mailbox on top. If that fucker gets hit by a semi it will be there in the mornin.
