I would flip. The fuck. Out. Couple takes baby to hospital with flu-like symptoms. Kid has a history of heart murmur. Docs start talking about heart surgery. Parents want second opinion. Docs say no. Parents take kid out of hospital, across town to another hospital. Doc says kid is fine to go home right now, nothing serious, and parents can look after him just fine. Next day, CPS shows up with police, takes 5-month old baby. There's the synopsis. Watch the video, though. The kid has a good home, parents who are worried, and a fat fucking busy body social worker making a cop get the baby from his crib, and has to warn the mom "I'm going to grab your baby, and don't fight and don't resist". Fucking CPS will ignore crack babies, welfare babies, gangbanging parents, and so on, and not do a damn thing. But they come take this baby because some hospital wanted some insurance money. I know for a fact that if that situation happened, that I would only make matters worse. Much, much worse. Shit really hit a nerve with me. I had to watch the same crap happen to a buddy of mine in the Army, when CPS showed up because his 4 year old boy broke his arm, and when they started grilling him and his wife about it at the hospital, he told them "he's a boy- what do you think boys do? They play hard." At which point the hospital worker told him "not to get smart with me", and he told her to fuck off. CPS was at their home the next day, and took their kid for almost a year while they fought to get the kid back, because every time they dealt with him my buddy flipped out. So they decided he had "anger issues" Yes, he did- it's called being pissed that somebody took your kid away for no reason. This is a truly fucked up organization, which does very little good, and causes far too much harm. I'm honestly surprised none of them have been killed.

I would flip my shit and I'm not even a parent.
I think these parents did the right thing by getting the press involved.

Red, this is in California.
Do they normally need a warrant to do this or is a doctor simply claiming neglect enough probable cause to enter the home? Not trolling.

Good point. Isn't it just breaking and entering if you don't have a warrant?

A 1994 court ruling in California says they do. Although it never made it to the state supreme court.
I just read the whole case file and Assa that will make your blood boil. I'd avoid reading it if you want to have a good day.

Fuck you, government. What the fuck is it their business to tell someone how to raise a child? Everything they do is just such a slap in the face. I can't wait until it all implodes. There will be some sad-faced clowns wandering around, trying to figure out how they're going to make it.

UPDATE
This what happened yesterday at the court hearing. And they're happy about this? I would be flipping out even further. This is absolute bullshit.
The 5-month-old baby boy who was seized by authorities in Sacramento, Calif. will be transferred to a Bay Area hospital for further medical evaluation, a court ruled Monday. However, the baby’s parents are celebrating a victory as they can now see him whenever they want and will be in charge of all the child’s medical decisions moving forward.
A detainment order has been lifted, but Child Protective Services (CPS) will continue to monitor the case, KXTV reports. The court also ruled that the parents must follow all future medical advice, including not removing their child from Stanford Medical Center without proper discharge.
“A county social worker will make regular house visits to check on Sammy once he is returned home,” the report adds.
“It’s like a special day for us. It’s like we’re in a unit with our son again,” the baby’s mother, Anna Nikolayev, said. “We’re just not going to let go anymore.”
