Our regular duck season was 72 days I think.

We have a 70 day season not including the 15 day early teal.

Louisiana falls into the Mississippi flyway, so their season length should have been 60 days (not including early teal), just like the rest of the flyway. Central had 74 this year, Pacific was 107. Season lengths are set by the USFWS for each flyway (as well as the time frame, ie not before or after a certain day), the rest is up to the states.

We get sixty days, beginning after the very last teal has crossed the state line, an ending before the big push of northern ducks.

Be happy with what you got. Every duck in North America is trying to cram ass into your state.

70-day-seasons?
You sure? I think you need to count the days on a calender.
I was under the opinion that everyone gets 60 day duck-season. The teal season don't count towards that.
In Illinois we get a 60-day duck season with a 10-day teal season in Sept.
It's COMPLICATED....there are 4 different zones in Illinois. It's a tall state. (should be two)

I think someone is adding the two seasons and coming up with 70 days. It's not the same. Add the youth duck hunt in and you get MORE THAN SEVENTY DAYS. (if you are 14 years old)

I remember when we got 40 or 45 days...forget exactly but DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT SIXTY-DAY SEASONS.

If you get sixty days plus a ten day teal season, you get 70 days. Trying to argue otherwise is just silly.

Years ago in WI you couldn't shoot canvasbacks for a portion of the season (and in most of the flyway if I remember correct), should those days not have counted in the 60 because it was a special "no canvasback season"?

Not sure where rebelp74 got his "70" - unless it's taking advantage of staggered zone openings. September teal is population dependent, but most years LA gets 16 days. Then it's 60 regular season duck days like everyone else in our Mississippi Flyway. Pretty sure specklebelly season's been running 72 days the past few years (down from 76). And then there's a however-long "conservation" blue/snow season that few birds stick around to see out.

Because the Robertson's live there and if it were any longer they would kill every duck in LA!:)

Arguing that the majority of SWLA's birds come from the Central Flyway, LA once took a shot at having it managed as part of the Central Flyway. But the Central Flyway states stonewalled the effort, presumably because the number of birds we kill here might negatively impact the Central Flyway's more liberal Federal frameworks. 'Least that's what the then head LA waterfowl biologist told me.

It's actually 74, because I hunt 2 zones, and not counting teal season which is 16 days not 15. Each zone gets 60 days.

So duck season is 76 days long in any given zone.

Yeah I didn't count teal season. If you count teal plus the ability to hunt 2 zones its 90 days.

He's saying each zone had 60 says, but he can bounce between two so that he can hunt 70.

By that theory, I could hunt I think 72 or 79 days. We have a 60 day season, just 3 zones.

I understand what he's saying. What I'm pointing out is the southern boys never want to acknowledge teal as days of duck season.

Duck season is a separate entity all by its lonesome. Early teal does not equal duck season. ;)
