I'll be honest, I'd be scared to death if I shot it. If asked by a warden, I'd probably try to pass it off as some sort of wood duck hybrid. It is a sharp looking bird, though.

You are damn skippy. He didn't say anything about "in season" either. I'm positive that the fine isn't as much as the cost of a new boat.

I wouldn't be so sure living in your great state! I also get to pick which boat in the event you scare one enough and give it a heart attack.

We have had one the last two seasons show up at Colusa Wildlife area on the west side of the valley. Little guy hangs out at the same pond on the same island, and has been seen flying with groups of wigeon.
