Woke up and can barely walk. Painful arthritus in foot. That is why you dont want to be a carpenter.
Back, knees, feet, alll shot. Have probly broke most of my fingers . My paws hurt a lot.
Am only 52 and falling apart.
Thinking about duck hunting retirement make me kinda sad. Would any of y'all mind wheeling me out into the woods this fall?

I think it depends on how we count. You've had enough birthday parties to be 34.

I was a wash in presents...

I practically stole your birthday!

Started in my middle finger about 4 yrs ago. Then elbows. Then knees. Was always saying I can handle any pain til it imobilizes me. It aint gout. The joints in my toes.
Now its in my neck too. Always crackin and poppin.

Feels like I been shingling a flattish roof for two weeks straight.
Alwyas used my right foot most...that desribes it pretty god.

From my understanding this is the answer to your problem:

Steroid Shots for Arthritis - Corticosteroids injected (steroid shot)

Manly - Boy, can you confirm or deny this?

If you ever answer your PM's I will ride you out in my boat. I think the blind is going to be pretty nice....it will be built for another 52 year old gent (me!) that has a yearning for some comfort. Going to see GKR saturday to get a stove he has donated. I will have a propane heater going and a nice bench to sit on.

Ever try glucocamine? It has helped my wifes knee pain.

I'm 26 and have terrible arthritis in my right hand. Broke it with a log splitter when I was 19. Firewood and scrap metal were my only income at the time so I kept cutting my cast off so I could work. Ended up not healing right and giving me arthritis. I can't even open bottles or jars on some cold mornings.

Glucosamine works but only after taken for a week or so. Remembering to take em is hard when it dont hurt.
Had a cortizone shot once in my hand. Where they put the needle makes me hurt thinkin about it.
I was fine after the shot, walked about 100 feet and about passed out. For some reason a lonely chair was sitting right where it needed to be. Called my wife for help but couldnt tell her where I was. Handed phone to nurse and said, " tell my wife where to come get me".

I think I will skip them shots until its so bad....
There is a limit to how many shots you get and it only lasts a couple months.

Waaaa. Being a wussie. It hurts. Waaaaaa

Don't stop, whatever you do. As badly as carpentering hurt me, it got much worse when I stopped and went to a desk job. That's what's gonna kill me.

Three summers ago I worked on a siding crew. At first we made ok money and I was happy. Then the boss got hurt and I had to carry him almost all summer. Then when he got better we lost our cutman. Boss hired a crack addict who was in recovery.
His first paycheck...the dude had 900 on Friday but was asking for cigarette money on Monday.
Hated that guy and he cost me a decent job.
Went from making 800/week to about 350 and decided running my truck aint worth that.
Been rough for a trade person around here.
Seeing 1/10 of the roofs are bad and so many repairs needing done.
Finding work is easy. Getting paid right...not so much.
Weird watching ppl let good homes rot away because its not new.
At the same time hi-rise appt. buildings are going up. (Built by union guys) C-U only has 100k ppl. Not chicago but starting to look like it.
That is your future. Enjoy.
The new buildings are dog-ass ugly. I wonder who will pay to tear them down in 30 years.

They will tear themselves down, by rotting from the inside, since the new building codes don't allow them to breathe. New houses here must be pressure tested, and the ductwork also, just like the plumbing. Ridiculous.

It is gout. I'm younger than you and I have it. Go get a blood test. If it is gout and treated you will feel like a new person. If not treated the acid will eat joints and cartilage away and cause serious problems down the road.

"Gout can present in a number of ways, although the most usual is a recurrent attack of acute inflammatory arthritis (a red, tender, hot, swollen joint).[2] The metatarsal-phalangeal joint at the base of the big toe is affected most often, accounting for half of cases.[3] Other joints, such as the heels, knees, wrists and fingers, may also be affected.[3] Joint pain usually begins over 2–4 hours and during the night.[3] The reason for onset at night is due to the lower body temperature then.[1] Other symptoms may rarely occur along with the joint pain, including fatigue and a high fever.[1][3]"

I feel for you. I'm 26 and have had multiple back surgeries, an entire lumbar fusion, rod in the back, left knee replacement, pins in my right foot and left hand, plate and screws in my right ankle and more broken bones than I can count. That skateboard was a mother fucker when I was young. Atleast you made it to 52 before your deterioration.

My wife laughed when I suggested I might have gout. She said, "we ate liver and onions once in 25 years. You get gout from eating certain foods that we dont eat".
Look it up.
Suppose its possible. Looked it up myself.
Still odd how symptoms are weather relative.
I can feel the high pressure coming in now.

Making it a science, and the code is not proven and most contractors don't have a clue. Gonna be a mess in 10 years

AB my wife said the same thing when I told her and she is in the medical field; my brother laughed and asked me if I was an alcoholic. Gout affects people in different ways. All it takes is one blood test to find out. I thought the same thing that I was getting arthritis, lived with it for five years. Now, pain free. It is worth one blood test to get it checked out. I wish I had known five years ago. To all you young guys out there, getting older sucks. Take care of yourself starting now.

I've had gout, I have had maybe five bites if liver in my life. Beer is a very common cause, as is shellfish, lots of things cause gout. Drink you some cherry and cranberry juice next time

Gout sucks, my dad gets it from eating venison and I had it for the first time last summer. I couldn't walk it hurt so bad. Flared up in the arch of my left foot. First time I've ever had to call in sick to work.
