An old Army buddy of mine just called to bitch. Apparently, he now has to pay 10 cents per bag, anywhere they go. Grocery store, Victoria's Secret, liquor store- 10 cents a bag. Anti-pollution tax they're calling it.

I'm not laughing too hard, because whatever CA does, MD doesn't seem to be too far behind.

In Portland, there is a plastic bag ban.

Yes, the plastic bags they made us use because paper bags are the reason the spotted owl was endangered.

Now all plastic bags have been removed from all grocery stores in Portland.

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/inde ... astic.html

If you watch the video, there is a dirty hippie girl at the end wearing a plastic bag skirt and a bra. She's funny.

X2 on the balloons! I am always finding them all over the woods. I've been debating on contacting my local state rep about getting some kind of law passed that bans car lots from using them or at least making them properly dispose of them. I can't tell you how many times I've been driving home in the afternoons and seen this one particular used car lot just untying them and letting them fly off. I'm talking 20 - 50 at a time!

My guess is they are trying to do the same thing as Portland, force people to use reusable bags. The material bags are a buck a piece but last forever. At least, that is what they think.

Here's an idea, if pollution is so bad. Everyone at the welfare office is required to spend 8 hours a day picking up trash, under the supervision of their "case worker", if they want any bennies. Don't want to do it? Fine, don't sign up for the check.

I saw a guy yesterday at the grocery store swipe his ACCESS card for food then pull out an ATM card and swipe that one for cigarettes.

If that low-life S.O.B. has enough money for cigarettes, he damn well has enough money for food!!!!!!

Vince if you think that makes you mad I saw a Canadian a few months ago with an American EBT card at Wat-Mart. I know it was rude but I asked her how she got it and she said her son was married to an American and she lived on this side. This woman bought all food (mostly junk) with the card then turns around and puts like 10 bottles of wine on the belt and pays with cash... Canadian cash of course.

So now along with the crack heads we're issuing food stamps to foreigners.

Sent from your honey hole.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

Geniuses. And people wonder why I say "don't worry- the time is coming, whether we want it to or not". After listening to some of the conversations I overheard at some of the "local" get togethers the past couple days, I firmly believe you should have to pass a test to vote. Nothing complicated, but damn people, c'mon. One of our friends who is 27 recently admitted that she thought the nation's capitol was in Washington state. WE LIVE 2 1/2 HOURS FROM DC. ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Mandatory composting is next.

Bans are great when they start out for the people who have the pie in the sky ideas, but they always expand and have unintended consequences.

Remember the deposit on bottles? Milk came in glass that you set out to be picked up again? I'm for personal responsibility, but if that's not getting the job done, put a price on their purchase and offer a deposit on return.
