what happened to cause him to lose his leg? my buddy had a lab that they think got bit by a brown recluse and lost her back leg

The short version is he broke his 150lb rated clip on his chain and was riding the tool box like a cow dog, (I chose not to pull over and put him in the cab) and he fell out of the back of the truck doing 60. I dont know if he got hit by the boat trailer, or if it was just from the impact with the pavement. Doc fixed the bone (including all 12 spiral fractured pieces between knee and hip), but there must have been nerve damage because he still wouldnt use the leg. We opted to take it off and he retrieved in January temps 7 days after amputation.

Yes, I am the "the guy" who's story is the reason to use a dog box. My truck now has a canopy. Expensive lesson learned.
